NVIDIA NVS 3100M

La Nvidia Quadro NVS 3100M è una scheda grafica per il business basata sul core GT218 (i.e. GeForce 305 / 310M) ma con drivers che sono ottimizzati per la stabilità e la compatibilità con le applicazioni business).

Pertanto, si tratta di una scheda grafica di fascia bassa con scarse prestazioni 3D che dovrebbero essere sufficienti per giochi poco esigenti e o comunque utilizzando dettagli e risoluzioni ridotte. Ad esempio il vecchio FEAR ha funzionato con una G210M in modo fluido con dettagli medio alti. Anche a causa dei "driver business", le prestazioni di gioco della NVS3100M potrebbero essere peggiori.

La NVS 3100M supporta PureVideo HD (con processore Video VP4) per decodificare videos HD nei formati H.264, VC-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4 ASP utilizzando la GPU. Questo aiuta a ridurre il carico della CPU e dovrebbe comportare un miglioramento della durata della batteria durante la proiezione di videos HD.

Il chip dovrebbe anche supportare CUDA e DirectX Compute per accedere alla potenza di calcolo della scheda grafica per le operazioni generali (come la codifica video).

Il consumo di energia di circa 14 Watt (TDP della G210M) è relativamente elevato per un portatile  business, ma rispetto alle schede grafiche integrate, la NVS 3100M dovrebbe avere comunque prestazioni 3D superiori.
