NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Mobile
La Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 per portatili (comosciuta anche come GTX 1080M) è la controparte della desktop GeForce GTX 1080. Utilizza lo stesso chip GP104 ed è stata annunciata ufficialmente il 16 agosto. Le prestazioni dovrebbero essere di circa il +-10% rispetto ad una desktop GTX 1080 senza overclock. Il numero di shaders e le altre specifiche tecniche dovrebbero essere identiche.
La mobile GTX1080 è il successore della GeForce GTX 980 per portatili ed offre prestazioni nettamente superiori con lo stesso TDP.
Le performance dovrebbero essere leggermente inferiori rispetto ad una desktop GTX 1080 ma comunque superiori ad una desktop GTX 1070. Pertnato, dovrebbe essere più veloce rispetto ad una combinazione SLI di due GTX 980 e rende possibile giocare in 4K con dettagli massimi.
Il chip GP104 è realizzato in 16nm con processo FinFET da TSMC ed offre una gamma di nuove features. DisplayPort 1.4 (ready), HDMI 2.0b, HDR, Multiproiezione Simultanea (SMP), video en- e decoders H.265 migliorati (per PlayReady 3.0) sono solo alcuni dei miglioramenti. A causa dell'elevato TDP, la mobile GTX 1080 è adatta solo a portatili grandi con sistemi di raffreddamento efficienti.
