Frequenza massima. Fino a poco fa, i displays da 120 Hz rappresentavano il massimo per i portatili gaming, ora Asus va oltre e presenta uno dei primi portatili 144 Hz con il ROG Chimera G703. Vediamo insieme cosa ha da offrire questo 17".

I tempi di risposta del display mostrano quanto sia veloce lo schermo a cambaire da un colore all'altro. Tempi di risposta lenti poccono creare sovrapposizioni negloi oggetti in movimento. Specialmente i giocatori patiti del 3D dovrebbero usare uno schermo con rempi di risposta bassi.

Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

To dim the screen, some notebooks will simply cycle the backlight on and off in rapid succession - a method called Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) . Per quanto riguarda i potenti desktop replacements, il ROG Chimera G703 merita sicuramente un posto sul podio.

Asus mette insieme un pacchetto di successo, senza fare grossi passi falsi. Ci sono dispositivi di input di prima classe (tastiera con illuminazione RGB), ma anche molte connessioni (come la Thunderbolt 3). Il display e la qualità del suono sono convincenti. In particolare il display IPS con i suoi 144 Hz e G-Sync rappresenta un ottimo argomento per convincere i clienti.

Anche le prestazioni non sono da criticare. Per giustificare il prezzo, Asus ha montato su questo 17" molti componenti high-end, sia la GeForce GTX 1080 che il Core i7-7820HK, che offrono prestazioni massime grazie all'overclocking. L'SSD-RAID e la quantità di RAM pure sono degne di nota.

Di negativo, dobbiamo citare il peso elevato, lo spessore, l'autonomia limitata, e la rumorosità quando si lavora in 3D (almeno quando è attiva la funzione OC) rispetto a risultati migliore del G703.

Nonostante queste pecche, il ROG Chimera merita un posto nella nostro Top 10 dei portatili Gaming.
