AMD FirePro M4100

L'AMD FirePro M4100 è una scheda grafica di fascia media per workstations mobile, presentata a metà 2013. Simile alla serie Nvidia Quadro, le schede FirePro offrono drivers certificati per software 3D professionali come CAD. Grazie all'ottimizzazione e ad alcune features sbloccate, le prestazioni con queste applicazioni sono nettamente migliori rispetto ad una GPU Radeon consumer.

Architettura

La FirePro M4100 integra 6 Compute Units basate sull'architettura GCN. Nel complesso, il chip ha 384 processori stream, 24 TMUs ed 8 ROPs. La memoria che arriva fino a 2 GB GDDR5 è collegata tramite un'interfaccia da 128-bit. Proprio come la serie Radeon, la FirePro M4100 offre features come Enduro o PCIe 3.0, ma non Eyefinity. Presumibilmente, AMD utilizza il chip grafico Mars, ma non è stato ancora ufficialmente confermato.

Prestazioni

Con clock rates fino a 670 MHz per il chip e 1000 MHz per la memoria (4000 MHz effettivi, 64 GB/s), le prestazioni gaming 3D dovrebbero essere leggermente inferiori alla vecchia FirePro M4000 o alla Nvidia Quadro K1100M. I giochi recenti del 2013 possono pertanto risultare fluidi con dettagli medi e risoluzione da 1366 x 768 pixels.

Consumo Energetico

La FirePro M4100 ha diverse tecniche di risparmio energetico per ridurre i consumi ed aumentare l'autonomia. Queste includono PowerPlay e PowerTune (per il clocking della GPU), Zero Core (disattiva parti della GPU quando il display è spento) ed Enduro (switching dinamico tra il processore grafico e la GPU Radeon dedicata). Il consumo energetico massimo sotto pieno carico di lavoro dovrebbe essere di sotto i 40 watts (stimati), rendendo la scheda adatta a portatili da 15 pollici o superiori.
