NVIDIA Quadro FX 1800M

La NVIDIA Quadro FX 1800M è una scheda grafica professionale di fascia medio alta per workstations mobile con schermi da 15". E' basata sullo stesso chip della GeForce GT 335M ma può montare anche una veloce memoria grafica GDDR5. La FX1800M è corredata di drivers professionali ed uno speciale BIOS che migliora le prestazioni e la stabilità delle applicazioni come CAD e DCC.

I drivers certificati garantiscono le prestazioni ed una lavoro fluido con le applicazioni professionali come Premiere, Photoshop, After Effect, AutoCAD, 3ds Max, trueSpace, Blender, Catia, IronCAD, Cinema 4D, Lightwave 3D, Softimage, Mathematica ... Rispetto ai prodotti GeForce, le schede Quadro FX offrono prestazioni significativamente migliori, specialmente per le applicazioni che si basano su OpenGL.

Le prestazioni di gioco dovrebbero essere simili alla GeForce GT 335M, sebbene i giocatori possano scegliere una scheda grafica GeForce a causa del supporto driver ottimizzato (che comporta prestazioni migliori e minori problemi durante il gioco). Quasi tutti i giochi più nuovi ed esigenti del 2009 dovrebbero funzionare almeno con settaggi medi (guardate la pagina GeForce GT 335M per maggiori informazioni).

Il chip è realizzato in 40nm ed offre 72 unified shaders 1-dimensionali. Questi possono essere confrontati con i circa 300-400 shaders 5-dimensionali delle schede grafiche AMD. Questi processing cores possono essere sfruttati anche con CUDA, OpenCL, e DirectCompute per utilizzare la potenza di calcolo in altre operazioni rispetto alla gestione di immagini (ad esempio per la transcodifica video).

La QuadroFX 1800M supporta anche PureVideo HD con il nuovo VideoProcessor (VP4) per decodificare video HD sulla scheda grafica. Questo aiuta nella riduzione del carico della CPU e nell'incremento dell'autonomia della batteria.

La Quadro FX 1800M supporta anche lo switching automatico tra la scheda grafica integrata e quella dedicata utilizzando Optimus. Prima le workstations non offrivano Optimus, in quanto lo sviluppo di questi laptops è molto lungo.
