Intel Core i7-8850H
L'Intel Core i7-8850H è un processore high-end per laptop a sei cores basato sull'architettura Coffee Lake e sarà annunciato all'inizio del 2018. Il processore si posiziona tra 2,6 e 4,3 GHz (4,1 con 4 core, 4 GHz con 6 core) e può eseguire fino a dodici threads contemporaneamente grazie all'Hyper-Threading. Secondo Intel, la CPU è prodotta con un processo migliorato di 14nm (14nm++).
L'architettura Coffee Lake è simile alla Kaby Lake e si differenzia solo per la quantità di cores (ora sei cores per le versioni di fascia alta) e per il processo migliorato di 14nm (14nm++ secondo Intel).
Grazie ai due cores aggiuntivi, le prestazioni sono aumentate di quasi il 50% rispetto ad un processore Kaby Lake con clock simile come il Core i7-7920HQ (3.1 - 4.1 GHz). Le prestazioni single-core non sono migliorate rispetto al suo predecessore Kaby Lake. In quanto modello di fascia alta, l'i7-8850H è adatto alle applicazioni e ai giochi più esigenti.
L'iGPU Intel UHD Graphics 630 integrata dovrebbe offrire prestazioni leggermente superiori in quanto il suo clock rate è stato aumentato di 50 MHz (si rumoreggia). L'architettura è identica a quella della Intel HD Graphics 630. Ci aspettiamo un miglioramento delle prestazioni, ma come soluzione di fascia bassa probabilmente gestirà i giochi attuali solo a dettagli ridotti, se non addirittura per niente.
Intel specifica un TDP da 45 watt e quindi l'i7 è adatto solo per i grandi laptop con buone soluzioni di raffreddamento. Utilizzando cTDP-down, la CPU può anche essere configurata a 35 Watt con conseguente riduzione delle prestazioni.
