Intel i5-1030NG7

L'Intel Core i5-1030NG7 è un SoC quad-core a basso consumo energetico per laptop e Ultrabook basato sulla generazione Ice -Lake-Y che è stata annunciata nel maggio 2019 (Computex). Integra quattro cores Sunnycove (8 threads grazie all'HyperThreading) con clock a 1,1 (base) - 3,8 (single core Turbo) GHz. Tutti e quattro i cores possono raggiungere un turbo fino a 3,2 GHz utilizzando Turbo Boost. Secondo Intel i cores Sunnycove raggiungono il 18% in più di IPC Istruzioni per Clock).

Rispetto al normale Core i5-1030G7, il i5-1030NG7 offre un formato più compatto (22 x 16,5 contro 26,5 x 18,5 mm), un clock di base più alto di 1100 contro 800 MHz e un TDP più alto di 1 Watt.

In combinazione con i due cores aggiuntivi, i precedenti processori dual core della serie Y (Amber Lake-Y) dovrebbero essere sempre più lenti. Le prestazioni a breve termine dovrebbero essere eccellenti, i carichi di lavoro lunghi dipenderanno dalle impostazioni del TDP e dalla soluzione di raffreddamento nel laptop/tablet.

Il più principale miglioramento per l'Ice-Lake è la scheda grafica integrata Gen 11 chiamata Iris Plus Graphics. Il Core i5-1030NG7 integra la più grande variante G7 con 64 CU con clock a 300 - 1050 MHz. Iris Plus G7 dovrebbe essere due volte più veloce dei predecessori e meglio della GPU AMD Vega 10 presente nelle attuali APU Ryzen. Tuttavia, nella serie Y le prestazioni di gioco dipenderanno ancora una volta dalla soluzione di raffreddamento e potrebbero degradarsi chiaramente nel tempo (rispetto al Core i7-1065G7 con 15 - 25 Watt ad esempio).

Altri miglioramenti della Ice Lake sono l'accelerazione hardware AI e la parziale integrazione di Thunderbolt e Wifi 6 nel chip. Il controller di memoria DDR4 integrato supporta moduli fino a 3200 MHz (e LPDDDDR4 3733).

Il Core i5-1030NG7 è prodotto nel nuovo processo a 10nm da Intel (2a generazione) che dovrebbe offrire prestazioni paragonabili al processo a 7nm della TSMC. Il TDP è specificato a 10 Watt e quindi la CPU può essere utilizzata in computer portatili sottili e leggeri. Intel offre un TDP configurabile fino a 12 Watt per i partner, con conseguenti notevoli differenze di prestazioni (dovute a periodi più lunghi di Turbo Boost).
