Intel 4300U

L'Intel Core i5-4300U è un processore dual-core ULV (ultra low voltage) per ultrabooks presentato nel 2013. Si basa sull'architettura Haswell ed è realizzata in 22nm. Grazie all'Hyperthreading, i due cores possono gestire fino a quattro threads in parallelo, con un conseguente miglior utilizzo della CPU. Ogni core offre una velocità base di 1.9 GHz, ma può aumentare dinamicamente il clock rate con il Turbo Boost fino a 2.9 GHz (per 1 core attivo) o 2.6 GHz (per due cores attivi).

L'Haswell ha succeduto l'architettura Ivy Bridge migliorando sia le prestazioni GPU che CPU. Questa CPU è realizzata in 22nm ed offre un branch prediction ottimizzato così come porte execution addizionali, migliorando le prestazioni per clock di quasi il 10 percento. Inoltre, nuove features come AVX2 e FMA dovrebbero incrementare le prestazioni nelle future applicazioni.

Le prestazioni del Core i5-4300U sono simili al precedente Core i7-3517U che aveva un clock leggermente superiore. Tuttavia, quando si utilizzano nuove istruzioni come le AVX2 le prestazioni possono risultare significativamente migliori. Pertanto, la CPU ha abbastanza potenza per lavori da ufficio e multimedia così come per applicazioni più pesanti.

L'HD Graphics 4400 integrata offre 20 Execution Units (EUs) con un clock da 200 - 1100 MHz (con Turbo Boost), rendendola leggermente più veloce rispetto alla precedente HD Graphics 4000 (con clock simile). Tuttavia, l'HD 4400 è leggermente più lenta rispetto alla HD 5000 degli altri modelli Haswell ULV.

L'i5-4300U ha un TDP da 15 W che includono scheda grafica, controller di memoria, VRMs e chipset integrato. Pertanto, questa CPU è adatta per piccolo ultrabooks da 11-pollici o superiori.
