Intel Core m5-6Y54
L'Intel Core m5-6Y54 is a very power efficient dual-core SoC basato sull'architettura Skylake ed è stato lanciato a Settembre 2015. Grazie al TDP estremamente basso, la CPU si trova in tablets a raffreddamento passivo e portatili 2-in-1. In aggiunta ai due CPU cores con Hyper-Threading con clock da 1.1 - 2.7 GHz (2 cores: max. 2.4 GHz), il chip integra anche una GPU HD Graphics 515 ed un controller di memoria dual-channel LPDDR3-1866/DDR3L-1600. Il chip è realizzato con processo da 14 nm e con transistors FinFET.
La Skylake sostituisce sia l'Haswell che la Broadwell ed introduce la stessa microarchitettura in ogni classe di TDP da 4.5 a 45 W. I molti miglioramenti del design Skylake includono l'incremento di buffers out-of-order, l'ottimizzazione del prefetching e branch prediction oltre ad un ulteriore guadagno di prestazioni tramite Hyper-Threading. Nel complesso, tuttavia, le prestazioni per clock sono aumentate solo del 5 - 10 percento (rispetto all'Haswell) o sotto il 5 percento (rispetto alla Broadwell), un risultato piuttosto modesto per una nuova architettura ("Tock").
Le attuali prestazioni del Core m5-6Y54 dipendono molto dalle capacità di raffreddamento e dalla configurazione TDP del relativo dispositivo. Mentre la CPU dovrebbe essere simile ad un Core i5-6200U (Skylake, 15 W) nei benchmarks brevi, le sue performance dovrebbero calare a quelle di un Core i3-6100U sotto carico massimo continuo. Nel complesso, il chip ha sufficiente potenza per finalità da ufficio e multimedia oltre che per applicazioni più pesanti.
L'unità grafica integrata chiamata HD Graphics 515 rappresenta la versione "GT2" della GPU Skylake (Intel Gen. 9). Le 24 Execution Units, chiamate anche EUs, hanno un clock tra 300 - 900 MHz (limitato dal margine di TDP) ed offrono prestazioni al livello di una vecchia HD Graphics 4400 (Haswell, 15 W). Con un TDP da 4.5 W (inclusi CPU, GPU e controller memoria), la CPU è adatta per portatili a raffreddamento passivo e tablets. Opzionalmente, il TDP può essere abbassato a 3.5 watts (cTDP down) or raised to 7 watts (cTDP up), influenzando sia la dissipazione del calore che le performance.
