Intel Core i5-5250U
L'Intel Core i5-5250U Þ un processore dual-core ULV (ultra low voltage) basato sull'architettura Broadwell, che Þ stata lanciata nel gennaio 2015. In aggiunta ai due cores CPU con Hyper-Threading con clock da 1.6 - 2.7 GHz (2 Cores: 2.5 GHz), il chip integra anche una GPU HD Graphics 6000 ed un controller di memoria dual-channel LPDDR3-1866/DDR3L-1600. Il Core i5 Þ realizzato con processo in 14 nm con transistors FinFET.
Rispetto al Core i5-5200U, l'i5-5250U sfrutta una CPU con clock base inferiore, ma integra una GPU leggermente pi¨ veloce.
La Broadwell rappresenta il "Tick" nel modello Intel Tick-Tock, il che significa una riduzione dei suoi predecessori Haswell. Il nuovo processo di produzione in 14 nm con transistors FinFET tridimensionali non solo consente miglioramenti per l'efficienza energetica, ma anche una riduzione degli spazi che lo rendono utile per dispositivi molto piccoli.
Ulteriori vantaggi derivano dalla rivisitazione della microarchitettura Broadwell. Grazie alla migliore branch prediction, alle maggiori dimensioni di buffer (1500 invece di 1000 entries nella L2 TLB) ed altre migliorie, le prestazioni per clock sono aumentati di oltre il 5 percento rispetto al predecessore. Ci sono anche nuovi set di istruzioni progettati per applicazioni di crittografia.
Grazie alla sua architettura migliorata il Core i5-5250U Þ del 5 - 15 percento pi¨ veloce rispetto al Core i5-4250U che ha un clock leggermente inferiore ed Þ alla pari con il Core i5-4350U (entrambi Haswell). Pertanto, la CPU ha sufficiente potenza per lavori multimedia e ufficio ma anche per applicazioni e multitasking pi¨ pesante.
L'HD Graphics 6000 integrata offre 48 Execution Units (EUs) con clock da 300 - 1000 MHz. Similmente al core CPU, l'architettura GPU (Intel Gen 8) Þ stata rivisitata per migliorare le performance-per-clock. In aggiunta, la GPU beneficia di una memoria pi¨ veloce fino alla LPDDR3-1866 (Haswell: DDR3-1600). Riteniamo che la HD Graphics 6000 sia significativamente pi¨ veloce rispetto alla precedente HD Graphics 5000 (40 EUs), parte della generazione Haswell. Tuttavia, i giochi pesanti del 2015 dovrebbero essere utilizzabili solo con settaggi medi o bassi.
Broadwell Þ il primo chip Intel con pieno supporto DirectX 11.2, OpenCL 1.3/2.0 e OpenGL 4.3. L'output video avviene via DisplayPort 1.2 o HDMI 1.4a. Tuttavia, il nuovo standard HDMI 2.0 non Þ supportato.
L'i5-5250U ha un TDP da 15 W (9.5 W cTDP Down) incluse scheda grafica, controller di memoria VRMs e chipset integrato. Pertanto, la CPU Þ adatta anche per piccoli ultrabooks da 11" o superiori.
