AMD FX-9800P

L'AMD FX-9800P è un SoC mobile mainstream della serie APU Bristol-Ridge per notebooks (settima generazione di APU), annunciato a metà 2016. L'FX-9800P è l'APU Bristol Ridge più veloce con un TDP da 15-Watt ed è il successore della FX-8800P da 15-Watt della generazione Carrizo. Questo chip ULV ha quattro CPU cores (due moduli Excavator = 4 integer e 2 FP units), una GPU Radeon R7 ed un controller di memoria dual-channel DDR4-1866. La Carrizo è un SoC completo e monta anche un chipset integrato, che ha tutte le porte I/0.

Architettura

Bristol Ridge è il successore dell'architettura Carrizo ed il design è quasi identico. Grazie ad un processo di produzione ottimizzato e al comportamento più aggressivo del Boost, tuttavia, i clocks sono leggermente superiori con lo stesso consumo energetico. Performance

Grazie ai clocks superiori, l'FX9800P è leggermente avanti al vecchio modello top da 15-Watt FX-8800P e compete con una Intel Core i3-6100U (Skylake, 15 Watts). Rispetto al modello Intel, il chip AMD ha un piccolo vantaggio negli scenari multi-thread, ma è sconfitto se si stressa solo uno o due cores.

Questo significa che ci sono performance sufficienti per classiche applicazioni da ufficio e web oltre che leggero multitasking.

Grafica

La GPU integrata Radeon R7 (Bristol Ridge) ha 512 unità shader attive (8 compute cores) con clock fino a 758 MHz. Grazie al miglior utilizzo del clock range e alla più veloce DDR4-RAM, la GPU riesce a superare di poco i suoi predecessori Radeon R7 (Carrizo) e compete con la GeForce 920MX dedicata nello scenario migliore (memoria dual-channel, basso carico CPU). Molti giochi del 2015/2016 sono fluidi con settaggi bassi.

Consumo Energetico

AMD dichiara un TDP per la FX-9800P di 12-15 Watts, che è paragonabile ai modelli ULV Intel. Questo significa che l'APU è una buona scelta per portatili sottili a partire dai 12".
