Intel Core i3-380UM

L'Intel Core i3-380UM è un processore Ultra Low Voltage dual-core per portatili piccoli e leggeri. Ha un clock da 1.3 GHz e non sfrutta il Turbo Boost per effettuare l'overclock dei cores CPU. Un'altra feature che manca rispetto alle i5 ed i7 sono le funzioni AES. Ogni core si basa sulla micro-architettura Nehalem (Westemere). L'Hyperthreading consente alla CPU Dual Core la gestione di 4 threads contemporaneamente (per un miglior utilizzo della pipeline).

I simili Core i5-470UM, i5-560UM, ed i7-660UM hanno una medesima velocità clocked base di 1.3 GHz, ma sfruttano il Turbo Boost e quindi risultano più veloci.

Una feature del nuovo Core i3-380UM è la scheda grafica integrata (chiamata Intel HD Graphics) ed il controller di memoria. Entrambi sono su una die separata realizzata ancora in 45nm mentre la die della CPU è realizzata con il nuovo processo in 32nm. La GMA HD è in grado di utilizzare il Turbo Boost per effettuare l'overclock da 133 a 500 MHz.

Grazie al controller di memoria integrato ed all'HyperThreading, il Core i3-380UM è più veloce rispetto alle Core 2 Duo con clock simile (1.3 GHz) in tutte (quelle che conosciamo) le applicazioni ed i benchmarks. Di conseguenza supera il Pentium SU7300 da 1.3 GHz e si attesta in velocità vicino ai Core 2 Duo da2 GHz. Tuttavia le prestazioni per il gaming possono soffrire della limitata velocità clock.

Il consumo energetico di 18 Watt di TDP (max.) vale per l'intero pacchetto e di conseguenza è nettamente migliore rispetto ai 17 Watt di TDP della serie Core 2 Duo SL (solo CPU).
