Intel Celeron N3350

L'Intel Celeron N3350 è un SoC dual-core prevalentemente per portatili economici, annunciato a metà 2016. Gira a 1.1-2.4 GHz (Burst) e si basa sulla piattaforma Apollo Lake. Come il processore Braswell, il chip è realizzato in 14 nm (P1273) con FinFETs. Oltre due CPU cores, il chip include anche una GPU DirectX 12 ed un controller di memoria DDR3L/LPDDR3/LPDDR4 (dual-channel, fino a 1866/2400 MHz).

Architettura

Per la prima volta in un paio di anni, Intel ha rielaborato completamente l'architettura delle CPU Atom. Il produttore dichiara un guadagno di ben il 30%, ma non dice nulla relativamente alle singole modifiche. La nuova architettura Goldmont dovrebbe pertanto essere alla pari con le APUs AMD Beema/Carrizo-L in termini di prestazioni per-MHz, ma resta ancora ben dietro le CPUs Core più costose (come Skylake / Kaby Lake).

Performance

Le prestazioni CPU del Celeron N3450 con 2 CPU cores ed un clock tra 1.1-2.4 GHz dovrebbero dipendere molto dal sistema di raffreddamento. Se il chip riesce a mantenere il suo clock Boost, l'N3450 dovrebbe essere di circa il 20-30% più veloce rispetto alla vecchia N2840 (Braswell) e competere con una Celeron 2955U (Haswell, 2x 1.4 GHz). Questo significa che il processore è perfettamente adatto alle applicazioni quotidiane (ufficio, navigazione) e per un moderato multi-tasking.

GPU Performance

L'HD Graphics 500 (Apollo Lake) si  basa sull'architettura Intel Gen9, che supporta il DirectX 12 ed è usata anche per le schede grafiche Lake / Skylake (come l'HD Graphics 520). Con 12 EUs ed un clock fino a 650 MHz, le performance dovrebbero essere alla pari con le vecchie HD Graphics (Braswell). Questo significa che solo i giochi datati e semplici saranno utilizzabili.

Il chip include anche un motore video avanzato con supporto hardware per la riproduzione di materiali VP9 ed H.265 (profondità del colore 8-bit).

Consumo Energetico

Come per il predecessore, Intel specifica un TDP da 6 Watts (SDP 4 Watts – Scenario Design Power). Il chip pertanto può essere raffreddato passivamente in teoria, ma anche con le SKUs che usano ventole.
