AMD A8-6410

L'AMD A8-6410 è un SoC mobile quad-core (nome in codice "Beema") per dispositivi entry-level e subnotebooks, presentato nella primavera 2014. In aggiunta ai 4 cores CPU con clock da 2.0 - 2.4 GHz (boost clock), il chip da 28 nanometri integra anche una GPU Radeon R5, un controller di memoria single-channel DDR3L-1866 ed il Southbridge con varie porte I/O. Oltre al clock base leggermente superiore (2.0 invece di 1.8 GHz), i dati tecnici e quindi le prestazioni sono quasi identiche alla APU A6-6310.

Architettura

Si al Beema (per notebooks) che la Mullins (per tablets e subnotebooks compatti) si basano sull'architettura AMD Puma+, che è il successore della precedente architettura Jaguar (APUa Kabini e Temash). Né le prestazioni per clock né il set di feature (incluso SSE fino a 4.2, AVX ed AES) sono stati modificati. Tuttavia, AMD è riuscita a ridurre la dispersione, consentendo velocità clock nettamente superiori (boost). Questo comporta un sistema più reattivo e prestazioni complessive migliori. Come il suo predecessore, il chip è realizzato in 28 nm.

Performance

Nelle applicazioni single thread, l'A8-6410 è nettamente più veloce rispetto alla precedente A6-5200 (25 W, 2.0 GHz), ma appena avanti nei benchmarks multi thread. Nel complesso, l'APU offre prestazioni simili ad un Pentium Haswell-based Pentium o ad un Core i3 (ULV). Tuttavia, l'A8-6410 risulterà sufficiente per le applicazioni quotidiane da ufficio, navigazione Internet e multimedia.

Grafica

Il SoC integra una GPU Radeon R5 con 128 shaders, che si basa sull'architettura GCN ed ha un clock fino ad 800 MHz. In media, le prestazioni grafiche sono simili alla Intel HD Graphics 4200 o ad una Radeon HD 7470M dedicata. Solo qualche gioco attuale (del 2014) è giocabile con settaggi bassi, ma i giochi più datati e meno pesanti non hanno nessun problema di fluidità.

Consumo Energetico

Il consumo energetico di tutto il SoC è di 15 watts. Pertanto, la APU è adatta per i subnotebooks più piccoli.
