Intel Core m3-8100Y
L'Intel Core m3-8100Y è un SoC dual-core molto efficiente per tablet e notebook a raffreddamento passivo basato sulla generazione Amber Lake e sarà annunciato intorno all'agosto 2018. La CPU è composta da due core di processore con clock a 1,1 - 3,4 GHz. Grazie a Hyper Threading, il processore può eseguire fino a quattro thread contemporaneamente. Il chip include anche la GPU Intel HD Graphics 615, un controller di memoria a doppio canale (DDR3L/LPDDR3), nonché VP9 e H.265 video de- e encoder. Rispetto ai predecessori Kaby Lake-Y (ad esempio Core m3-7Y32), Amber Lake utilizza la stessa architettura prodotta nel processo FinFET 14nm+ migliorato (no 14nm+++), ma offre velocità di clock più elevate con una maggiore valutazione TDP.
Intel ha utilizzato fondamentalmente la familiare micro architettura della generazione Skylake / Kaby Lake, quindi le prestazioni per-MHz sono identiche.
Le prestazioni della serie Y dipendono fortemente dalla soluzione di raffreddamento del laptop/tablet e dalle impostazioni TDP per il carico sostenuto. Pertanto, le differenze tra un Core m3 e un i7 possono essere piuttosto sottili, se le termiche sono molto limitate. Le elevate velocità di clock Turbo in Amber Lake dovrebbero comunque portare ad un'ottima prestazione a filo singolo per brevi raffiche.
La GPU Intel HD Graphics 615 integrata ha 24 unità di esecuzione (EU) come la vecchia HD Graphics 515 e funziona con clock tra 300 e 950 MHz in combinazione con questo processore. Le prestazioni dipendono fortemente dal limite TDP e dalla configurazione della memoria; con la RAM veloce LPDDR3-1866 in modalità a doppio canale, la GPU dovrebbe a volte essere in grado di competere con l'HD Graphics 520, ma può anche essere molto più lenta in altri scenari. I giochi moderni a partire dal 2016 funzioneranno, se non addirittura senza problemi, solo nelle impostazioni più basse.
Contrariamente a Skylake, Kaby Lake e Amber Lake ora supporta anche la decodifica hardware per H.265/HEVC Main10 con una profondità di colore a 10 bit e il codec VP9 di Google.
Il chip è prodotto nel vecchio processo a 14 nm+ con transistor FinFET. Il TDP tipico per la serie Y di Amber Lake Y è specificato a 5 Watt (le generazioni precedenti erano 4,5 Watt), e può essere regolato in entrambe le direzioni a seconda dello scenario di utilizzo.
