Intel 6770HQ

L'Intel Core i7-6770HQ è un veloce processore quad-core per portatili basato sull'architettura Skylake ed annunciato all'inizio del 2016. Oltre ai quattro CPU cores incluso supporto Hyperthreading, che hanno un clock da 2.6-3.5 GHz (probabili steps Turbo: 4 cores: fino a 3.1 GHz, 2 cores: fino a 3.3 GHz), il processore integra anche una scheda grafica molto veloce. L'Iris Pro Graphics 580 (GT4e) ha 72 EUs e 128 MB di cache eDRAM, che può essere usata anche dai CPU cores. E' realizzata in 14 nm con transistors FinFET.

Diversamente da altri modelli come il Core i7-6700HQ, l'i7-6770HQ ha una GPU molto più veloce.

Architettura

Intel utilizza la Skylake per sostituire sia la Broadwell che l'Haswell e pertanto ancora una volta utilizza un core design per tutte le classi di TDP tra 4.5-45 Watts. I miglioramenti dell'architettura Skylake includono un Buffer Out-to-Order più grande, l'ottimizzazione per pre-fetching e migliori margini di Hyperthreading. Tuttavia, i cambiamenti sono piccolo per un "Tock" – una nuova microarchitettura – in generale, quindi le prestazioni per-MHz sono superiori solo tra 5-10 % (rispetto all'Haswell) e meno del 5 % (rispetto alla Broadwell), rispettivamente.

L'i7-6770HQ beneficia anche della cache eDRAM aggiuntiva in alcuni casi, che riesce ad accelerare le applicazioni che richiedono molta memoria in particolare.

Performance

Grazie alla cache eDRAM aggiuntiva, l'i7-6770HQ dovrebbe competere anche con la i7-6700HQ che ha un clock simile e di conseguenza è uno dei processori per portatili più veloci dell'inizio 2016. Anche le  applicazioni più pesanti e il multi-tasking estremo non sono un problema per questa CPU high-end.

Grafica

La GPU integrata con il nome Iris Pro Graphics 580 (anche nota come "GT4e") rappresenta la versione più veloce della GPU Skylake (Intel Gen. 9). 72 Execution Units (EUs) girano da 350 a 950 MHz e consentono prestazioni paragonabili ad un chip mainstream dedicato. La GPU dovrebbe essere in grado di competere con una GeForce 945M in perfette condizioni e di conseguenza è la iGPU più veloce sul mercato con un buon margine. Consumo Energetico

Stando al suo TDP da 45 Watts, il chip è progettato principalmente per portatili grandi a partire da 15". Il TDP può essere opzionalmente ridotto a 35 watt (cTDP down) ma questo ovviamnete impatta sulle performance.
