Intel Core i7-6567U
L'Intel Core i7-6567U è un SoC dual-core basato sull'architettura Skylake. A Settembre 2015, è la CPU più veloce della serie 28 W, che si trova nei portatili ed ultrabookd di dimensioni medie. In aggiunta ai due CPU cores con Hyper-Threading con clock da 3.3 - 3.6 GHz (2 cores: max. 3.4 GHz), il chip integra anche un GPU Iris Graphics 550 con 64 MB di memoria eDRAM oltre ad una dual-channel DDR4-2133/DDR3L-1600. Il SoC è realizzato con processo da 14 nm e con transistors FinFET.
La Skylake sostituisce sia l'Haswell che la Broadwell ed introduce la stessa microarchitettura in ogni classe di TDP da 4.5 a 45 W. I molti miglioramenti del design Skylake includono l'incremento di buffers out-of-order, l'ottimizzazione del prefetching e branch prediction oltre ad un ulteriore guadagno di prestazioni tramite Hyper-Threading. Nel complesso, tuttavia, le prestazioni per clock sono aumentate solo del 5 - 10 percento (rispetto all'Haswell) o sotto il 5 percento (rispetto alla Broadwell), un risultato piuttosto modesto per una nuova architettura ("Tock").
Inoltre, l'organizzazzione della cache eDRAM è stata modificata. Invece di comporarsi come una cache passiva, che deve essere indirizzata tramite L3/LLC, l'eDRAM ora può essere indirizzata direttamente dai programmi proprio come la memoria principale. La dimensione è sempre di 128 MB per i modelli quad-core (4C + GT4e), mentre i chips dual-core (2C + GT3e) ne offrono solo 64 MB.
In base ai clock rates specificati e alla architettura migliorata, il Core i7-6567U dovrebbe avere prestazioni leggermente superiori al precedente Core i5-5350H (Broadwell) ed è uno dei più veloci dual-cores mobile di fine 2015.
Anche le applicazioni pesanti ed il multitasking sono gestite facilmente.
L'unità grafica chiamata Iris Graphics 550 rappresenta la versione "GT3e" della GPU Skylake (Intel Gen. 9). Le 48 Execution Units, chiamate anche EUs, hanno un clock tra 350 - 1100 MHz ed offrono (grazie alla veloce cache eDRAM) prestazioni simili ad una GeForce 930M dedicata. Con un TDP da 28 W (inclusi CPU, GPU e controller memoria), la CPU è più adatta per portatili di dimensioni medie (a partire da 13"). Opzionalmente, il TDP può essere abbassato a 23 watts (cTDP down), riducendo sia la dissipazione del calore che le performance.
