AMD Athlon 7220U

L'AMD Athlon Gold 7220U è un processore mobile per i notebook della serie Mendocino a basso costo. Incorpora due vecchi core Zen 2 (simili alla serie Ryzen 4000). I core del processore funzionano a frequenze che vanno da 2,4 GHz (base) a 3,7 GHz (single core Turbo) e possono utilizzare 4 MB di cache L3. Grazie all'SMT/Hyperthreading, la CPU può lavorare su 4 thread contemporaneamente. Il controller di memoria integrato supporta solo la memoria LPDDR5 veloce (max. 5500 MHz). Rispetto ai modelli Mendocino più veloci, come il Ryzen 5 7520U, il 7220U offre solo due core e velocità di clock ridotte, il che comporta prestazioni della CPU notevolmente inferiori.

La scheda grafica integrata (Radeon 610M iGPU) utilizza la moderna architettura RDNA 2, ma solo 2 CU (128 shader) e clock fino a 1,9 GHz.

Le prestazioni della CPU dovrebbero essere migliori rispetto ai Ryzen dual-core più veloci (Ryzen 3 3250U, 2,6 - 3,5 GHz, Zen 1), ma sono ancora nettamente inferiori alle moderne CPU quad-core (nei test multi-thread).

La serie Mendocino è prodotta con un processo relativamente moderno a 6 nm FinFET presso TSMC e dovrebbe offrire una buona efficienza energetica. L'Athlon Gold 7220U ha un TDP di 8-15W ed è quindi adatto a computer portatili sottili e leggeri.
