Intel 3632QM

L'Intel Core i7-3632QM è un veloce processore quad-core per portatili basato sull'architettura Ivy Bridge ed è il successore dell'i7-3612QM. E' il processore mobile processor più veloce da 35 Watt (al momento del suo annuncio nel terzo quadrimestre del 2012). Grazie all'Hyperthreading, i quattro cores possono gestire fino ad otto threads in parallelo con un conseguente miglior utilizzo della CPU. Ogni core offre una velocità base di 2.2 GHz ma può effettuare in incremento dinamico del clock rates con il Turbo Boost fino a 2.9 GHz (per 4 cores attivi), 3.1 GHz (per 2 cores attivi) e 3.2 GHz (per 1 core attivo). Rispetto alle altre CPUs quad core, il 3632QM ha un TDP di appena 35 Watt (simile alle CPUs dual-core). La versione BGA (che è saldata direttamente sulla scheda madre) supporta la virtualizzazione VT-d, mentre la versione rPGA non ha questo supporto. Entrambe non supportano il vPro e la Trusted Execution, ma per il resto tutte le altre features Ivy Bridge come l'AES o il VT-x sono utilizzabili.

L'Ivy Bridge è un miglioramento tramite ridimensionamento dell'architettura Sandy Bridge con migliorie sia sulle prestazioni GPU che CPU. Le CPUs sono realizzate in 22nm (contro i 32nm delle CPUs Sandy Bridge) e sono le prime ad introdurre transistors 3D per l'incremento dell'efficienza energetica se si confrontano i processori Sandy Bridge con clock simile. Altre nuove features sono il PCI Express 3.0 ed il supporto DDR3(L)-1600.

Le prestazioni del Core i7-3632QM dovrebbero essere leggermente superiori ad un processore Sandy Bridge con clock simile grazie ai piccoli miglioramenti dell'architettura. Nel complesso, le prestazioni dovrebbero essere leggermente superiori al Sandy Bridge Core i7-2820QM. Sebbene il 3632QM abbia un numero di modello superiore rispetto al 3630QM, ha un clock rate più lento e di conseguenza prestazioni inferiori. Tuttavia, il 3630QM ha un TDP più elevato da 45 Watt.

La Intel HD Graphics 4000 integrata offre 16 Execution Units (EUs) ed ha un clock da 650 MHz (base) fino a 1150 MHz (Turbo Boost).

Con un TDP di appena 35 Watt, il Core i7-3632QM si attesta sui livelli delle CPUs mobile dual-core. Pertanto, anche i portatili più piccoli possono utilizzare questo Core i7.
