Intel Celeron N3450
L'Intel Celeron N3450 è un SoC quad-core pensato per notebooks economici ed annunciato a metà 2016. Gira a 1.1-2.2 GHz (Burst) e si basa sulla piattaforma Apollo Lake. Come il predecessore Braswell, il chip è realizzato in 14 nm (P1273) con FinFETs. Oltre a quattro CPU cores, il chip include anche una GPU DirectX 12 ed un controller di memoria DDR3L/LPDDR3/LPDDR4 (dual-channel, fino a 1866/2400 MHz).
Per la prima volta in un paio di anni, Intel ha completamente rielaborato l'architettura CPU della serie Atom. Il produttore dichiara un guadagno di prestazioni di circa il 30%, ma non rivela alcuna specifica circa i singoli cambiamenti. La nuova architettura Goldmont dovrebbe pertanto essere quasi alla pari con le APUs AMD Beema/Carrizo-L in termini di prestazioni per-MHz, ma è ancora molto dietro alle più costose CPUs Core (come Skylake / Kaby Lake).
Le performance CPU della Celeron N3450 con 4 CPU cores e clock tra 1.1-2.2 GHz dovrebbero dipendere molto dal sistema di raffreddamento. Se il chip riesce a mantenere il suo Boost clock, l'N3450 dovrebbe essere di circa 15-20% più veloce rispetto alla vecchia N3710 (Braswell) e competere con una AMD A4-7210. Questo significa che il processore è perfetto per applicazioni quotidiane (ufficio, browsing) e per moderato multi-tasking.
La HD Graphics 500 (Apollo Lake) si basa sull'architettura Intel Gen9, che supporta DirectX 12 ed è usata anche per le schede grafiche Kaby Lake / Skylake (come l'HD Graphics 520). Monta 12 EUs ed ha un clock fino a 700 MHz, le performance dovrebbero essere quasi alla pari con la vecchia HD Graphics (Braswell). Questo significa che solo i vecchi titoli come Counter-Strike: GO o Diablo 3 saranno fluidi.
Il chip include anche un motore video avanzato con supporto hardware per la riproduzione di materiale VP9 ed H.265 (profondità colore 8-bit).
Come nel predecessore, Intel specifica un TDP da 6 Watts (SDP 4 Watts – Scenario Design Power). Il chip pertanto può essere raffreddato passivamente in teoria, ma vanno bene anche le SKUs con ventola.
