AMD A4-5000

L'AMD A4-5000 è un SoC quad-core mobile per portatili di fascia bassa, presentata nel primo semestre 2013. In aggiunta ai 4 cores CPU con una velocità clock da 1.5 GHz (senza Turbo), il chip da 28-nanometri integra anche una GPU Radeon HD 8330, un controller di memoria single channel DDR3(L)-1600 ed un Southbridge con varie porte I/O.

Architettura

Sia la Kabini (per portatili) che la Temash (tablets e subnotebooks) si basano sulla nuova architettura AMD Jaguar, che sostituisce i precedenti modelli Bobcat (i.e. l'E-350). Secono AMD, le prestazioni per clock sono aumentate di circa il 15 percento. Inoltre, adesso sono supportati vari set di istruzioni come l'SSE fino alla versione 4.2, l'AVX e l'AES. Il processo in 28-nanometri TSMC consente un voltaggio inferiore e/o un clock superiore rispetto alla Bobcat, così come fino a 4 cores CPU (Bobcat: 2 cores).

Prestazioni

A causa della bassa velocità clock da 1.5 GHz, le prestazioni con le applicazioni sono modeste ed appena superiori alla vecchia E2-1800. Tuttavia, se sono impegnati tutti i 4, le prestazioni equivalgono a quelle del Core i3-2377M Sandy-Bridge-based. Per applicazioni da ufficio e multimedia, l'A4-5000 ha potenza sufficiente, tuttavia, raggiunge i suoi limiti con le applicazioni più pesanti e con i giochi.

Grafica

Il SoC integra una GPU Radeon HD 8330 con 128 shaders, che si basa sull'architettura GCN ed ha un clock da 500 MHz (nessun Turbo). In media, la HD 8330 è al livello di una Radeon HD 7470M o di una Intel HD Graphics 4000. La maggioranza dei giochi recenti (del 2013) sono quindi difficilmente utilizzabili. Tuttavia, alcuni giochi datati e meno pesanti risultano fluidi.

Consumo Energetico

Il consumo energetico di tutto il SoC è di 15 watts. Pertanto, la A4-5000 è un po' più economica rispetto ai suoi predecessori (E2-1800: 17 watts) ed è adatta anche per i piccoli subnotebooks.
