Intel Celeron 3867U

L'Intel Celeron 3865U è un SoC dual-core ULV (ultra low voltage) basato sull'architettura Kaby-Lake ed è stato lanciato nel primo trimestre del 2017. La CPU si trova sia negli ultrabooks che nei normali notebooks. Oltre a due CPU cores con clock a 1,8 GHz (no Turbo Boost, no HyperThreading), il chip integra anche una GPU HD Graphics 610 e un controller di memoria dual-channel DDR4-2133/DDR3L-1600. Il SoC è prodotto utilizzando un processo a 14 nm con transistor FinFET.

Rispetto all'analogo Celeron 3865, il 3867 offre una diversa opzione cTDP-down (12,5 contro 10 Watt).

Architettura

Intel utilizza fondamentalmente la stessa microarchitettura rispetto alla Skylake, quindi le prestazioni per-MHz non differiscono. Il produttore ha solo rielaborato la tecnologia Speed Shift per una più rapida regolazione dinamica dei voltaggi e dei clock, e il processo migliorato a 14nm permette frequenze molto più alte combinate con una migliore efficienza rispetto a prima.

Prestazioni

A causa della mancanza del Turbo Boost e delle basse velocità di clock, soprattutto le prestazioni single thread sono molto limitate, il che si traduce in prestazioni inferiori anche per compiti meno impegnativi. Le prestazioni dovrebbero essere notevolmente più lente rispetto al Celeron 3965, che offre CPU cores con clock superiore di 400 MHz. Pertanto, la CPU è adatta solo per attività entry level come attività da ufficio, la navigazione sul web e il multimedia.

Grafica

L'unità grafica integrata denominata HD Graphics 610 (simile all'HD Graphics 510) rappresenta la versione "GT1" della GPU Kaby Lake (Intel Gen. 9). Le sue 12 Execution Units, chiamate anche EU, hanno un clock da 300 - 900 MHz e offrono prestazioni leggermente inferiori alle vecchie HD Graphics 4400. Solo pochi giochi del 2015 possono essere riprodotti senza problemi nelle impostazioni più basse.

Consumo energetico

Con un TDP di 15 W (inclusi CPU, GPU e controller di memoria), la CPU è la più adatta per notebook e ultrabook di piccole dimensioni (11" e oltre). Come opzione, il TDP può essere abbassato a 10 watt (cTDP down), riducendo sia la dissipazione del calore che le prestazioni e consentendo design ancora più compatti.
