Intel i7-9700K

L'Intel Core i7-9700K è un processore desktop di fascia alta basato sull'architettura di Coffee Lake. Offre un moltiplicatore aperto per un facile overclocking e integra 8 core (non Hyperthreading quindi anche 8 thread) con clock a 3,6 - 4,9 GHz e necessita di una nuova scheda madre basata su Z390.

Grazie ai due core aggiuntivi, le prestazioni nelle applicazioni multi-threaded sono ancora migliori rispetto al vecchio Core i8-8700K con 6 core e Hyperthreading. Come CPU desktop di fascia alta, l'i9-9700K è adatto anche per applicazioni molto impegnative e perfetto per i giochi 3D.

La scheda grafica integrata Intel UHD Graphics 630 è clockata fino a 1,2 GHz e non offre alcun vantaggio rispetto alle generazioni precedenti. Trattandosi di una GPU di fascia molto bassa, solo alcuni giochi poco impegnativi come Hearthstone possono essere giocati con essa (vedere la pagina GPU per i benchmark).

Intel specifica il TDP a 95 Watt, quindi se la CPU è usata nei laptop è necessario un sistema di raffreddamento grande e grosso per evitare strozzature e velocità di clock inferiori sotto carichi sostenuti. Quando si esegue l'overclocking della CPU, il consumo di energia può facilmente salire fino a 200 Watt e oltre.
