L'Intel Core i9-12900 è una CPU di fascia alta per desktop basata sull'architettura Alder Lake. È stato annunciato per la prima volta nel novembre 2021 e offre 8 core per le prestazioni e 8 core per l'efficienza. I core ad alte prestazioni (P-cores) supportano l'HyperThreading, che porta a 24 thread che possono essere elaborati contemporaneamente. I core ad alte prestazioni possono raggiungere un clock di 5,1 GHz, mentre i core ad alta efficienza possono raggiungere un clock di 3,8 GHz. Tutti i core possono utilizzare 30 MB di Smart Cache. Il controller di memoria integrato supporta fino a 128 GB di DDR5 a 4800 MT/s (doppio canale).

Il Thread Director (in hardware) può supportare il sistema operativo nel decidere quale thread utilizzare sui core più performanti o efficienti per ottenere le migliori prestazioni.

Per le attività di intelligenza artificiale, la CPU integra anche GNA 3.0 e DL Boost (molto probabilmente utilizzando solo AVX2). Quick Sync nella versione 8 è lo stesso delle CPU Rocket Lake e supporta MPEG-2, AVC, decodifica VC-1, JPEG, decodifica VP8, VP9, HEVC e AV1 in hardware.

La scheda grafica integrata è basata sull'architettura Xe e si chiama Intel UHD Graphics 770. Il clock è compreso tra 300 e 1,55 GHz.

La CPU ha una potenza di base di 65 W e una potenza Turbo massima di 202 Watt. È prodotta con processo a 10 nm, chiamato Intel 7, presso Intel.
