Apple M1 Pro

L'Apple M1 Pro è un System on a Chip (SoC) di Apple che si trova nei modelli MacBook Pro 14 e 16 pollici del 2021. Offre tutti i 10 core disponibili nel chip divisi in otto core di performance (P-cores con 600 - 3220 MHz) e due core di efficienza energetica (E-cores con 600 - 2064 MHz). Non c'è Turbo Boost per singoli core o per brevi periodi di burst. I core sono simili a quelli dell'Apple M1. Il modello entry level offre solo 8 core.

I grandi core (nome in codice Firestorm) offrono 192 KB di cache delle istruzioni, 128 KB di cache dei dati e 24 MB di cache L2 condivisa (da 12 MB nell'M1). I quattro core di efficienza (nome in codice Icestorm) sono molto più piccoli e offrono solo 128 KB di cache di istruzioni, 64 KB di cache dati e 4 MB di cache condivisa. CPU e GPU possono entrambe utilizzare i 24 MB di SLC (System Level Cache). I core di efficienza (cluster E) hanno un clock di 600 - 2064 MHz, i core di performance (cluster P) di 600 - 3228 MHz.

La memoria unificata (16 o 32 GB LPDDR5-6400) accanto al chip è collegata da un controller di memoria a 256 bit (200 GB/s di larghezza di banda) e può essere utilizzata dalla GPU e dalla CPU.

La scheda grafica integrata nell'M1 Pro offre tutti i 16 core.

Inoltre, il SoC integra un veloce motore neurale a 16 core, una enclave sicura (ad esempio, per la crittografia), un'architettura di memoria unificata, un controller Thunderbolt 4, un ISP e de- ed encoder multimediali (incluso ProRes).

L'M1 Pro è prodotto in 5 nm presso TSMC e integra 33,7 miliardi di transistor. Il consumo di potenza di picco del chip è stato pubblicizzato intorno ai 30W per compiti intensivi della CPU. Nel benchmark Prime95 il chip utilizza nei nostri test (con un MBP16) 33.6W di potenza del pacchetto e 31W per la parte CPU. In idle il SoC riporta solo 1W di potenza del pacchetto.
