La CPU gaming perfetta! L'Intel Core i7-9700K deve ora confermarsi nei nostri test, con il Core i9-9900K che ha dimostrato il suo valore il mese scorso. Il Core i7-9700K manca del supporto Hyper-Threading, che lo rende direttamente paragonabile al suo predecessore, il Core i7-8700K. Intel si è concentrata principalmente sui giocatori con l'introduzione della nona generazione della sua serie di processori Core desktop. Allo stesso tempo, i nuovi processori cercano di sfidare il rivale di Intel, AMD che ha rilasciato il potente octa-core Ryzen 7 2700X all'inizio di quest'anno.In precedenza, Intel è stata in grado di rilasciare solo processori desktop consumer con un massimo di 6 cores e 12 threads, il che ha reso chip come l'Intel Core i7-8700K tecnicamente inferiore al Ryzen 7 2700X in applicazioni multi-threaded. I processori desktop Core della nona serie hanno cambiato questa situazione e ora hanno fino a 8 cores e 16 threads. Abbiamo recensito il Core i9-9900K circa un mese fa, che è salito in cima alle tabelle di confronto come il processore octa-core più veloce che abbiamo mai testato.

Intel ha anche introdotto il Core i7-9700K e Core i5-9600K insieme al Core i9-9900K, il primo dei quali sarà al centro di questa recensione. Tutti e tre i processori sono basati sullo stesso DIE e sono prodotti utilizzando un processo FinFET a 14 nm ++ con un dissipatore saldato. I chip Core desktop della 9a serie Core dovrebbero dissipare il calore meglio e più velocemente di quanto potrebbe fare il Core i7-8700K. Capiamo perché Intel ha scelto di saldare i dissipatori alle sue CPU, dato che il calore in eccesso è diventato rapidamente un problema quando abbiamo provato l'overclocking del Core i7-8700K.

Il Core i9-9900K è l'unica CPU della nona generazione di processori Core desktop per supportare l'Hyper-Threading, ma il Core i7-9700K e il Core i5-9600K dovrebbero ancora funzionare bene in applicazioni multi-threaded. Principalmente, i giochi beneficiano di velocità di clock più elevate di quanto non facciano con più core, quindi la maggior parte dei giochi non sfruttano la potenza extra che i processori come AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2970WX può fornire con i suoi 24 core e 48 thread. I processori Intel hanno anche istruzioni relativamente alte per ciclo (IPC), che aiuterà con applicazioni a thread singolo come i giochi.

Spiegheremo quanto bene il Core Intel i7-9700K si comporta rispetto ai suoi concorrenti AMD e Intel nelle sezioni seguenti. Vorremmo prima di tutto ringraziare Caseking, che ci ha generosamente fornito due CPU di prova, senza le quali avremmo faticato a scrivere questa recensione.

Prezzi e disponibilità

I prezzi dei nuovi processori sono diminuiti nelle ultime settimane. Abbiamo visto il Core i7-9700K online per €499 (~$564) il mese scorso, ma Caseking sta ora vendendo la CPU per €429 (~$485). Questo rappresenta un calo dei prezzi di circa il 15% in poche settimane ed è una tendenza che speriamo possa continuare per il bene degli utenti finali che cercano di acquistare un nuovo processore. Il Ryzen 7 2700X è ancora circa €100 (~$113) più economico del Core i7-9700K.

Il sistema di test

Caseking ci ha gentilmente fornito i nostri AIO, case e processori.

Abbiamo utilizzato l'ASUS ROG Strix Z390-E Gaming come base del nostro sistema di test e l'abbiamo accoppiato con 16 GB di RAM DDR4 di G-Skill. La RAM ha un clock da 3.400 MHz ed è stata impostata come profilo XMP nel BIOS. Abbiamo lasciato inalterate tutte le altre impostazioni del BIOS fino a quando non abbiamo provato l'overclocking della CPU. Caseking ci ha gentilmente inviato un AIO Raijintek che ha un dissipatore a 360°. L'azienda ci ha anche fornito un case Raijintek a telaio aperto, al quale Caseking ha aggiunto il logo Notebookcheck, che è un bel tocco di classe.

Abbiamo anche equipaggiato il nostro sistema di test con la stessa GPU che abbiamo usato per le nostre recensioni Ryzen 5 e Ryzen 7 per fornire risultati più coerenti con i quali abbiamo potuto confrontare il Core i7-9700K. Abbiamo incluso il consumo energetico di questi componenti nelle nostre tabelle di consumo energetico nelle sezioni successive.

Abbiamo installato Windows 10 su un SanDisk Ultra II da 240 GB. Avremmo voluto utilizzare l'unità ADATA SX910 da 512 GB ADATA SX910 che abbiamo utilizzato nella nostra recensione Core i9-9900K, ma purtroppo abbiamo dovuto restituire l'unità a causa di un difetto. Abbiamo anche equipaggiato il nostro sistema di test con un'unità Intel Optane SSD 905P da 480 GB, che si collega tramite uno slot M.2 sulla scheda madre e utilizza il protocollo NVMe per la trasmissione veloce dei dati. Abbiamo deciso di memorizzare i giochi su un Samsung Evo 850 500 GB SSD e un Western Digital 2 TB HDD, entrambi collegati al nostro sistema di test tramite USB 3.0 ai fini dei nostri test.

CPU Benchmarks

Il Core i7-9700K è attualmente la terza CPU più veloce di Intel dietro il Core i9-7900X e il Core i9-9900K secondo i nostri benchmark CPU. Mentre il Core i9-9900K è tecnicamente superiore al Core i7-9700K con il suo supporto Hyper-Threading, ha ottenuto solo l'11% in più nel nostro test di valutazione delle prestazioni. Inoltre, il Core i7-9700K ha ottenuto solo il 2% in meno del Core i9-9900K nel benchmark Cinebench R15 single-threaded. Tuttavia, il Core i7-9700K è arrivato il 30% dietro il suo più potente fratello di nona generazione nella porzione multi-threaded del Cinebench R15. In generale, l'inclusione dell'Hyper-Threading aggiunge un aumento misurabile delle prestazioni nei benchmark sintetici, ma sospettiamo che la maggior parte delle persone non si accorgerebbe della differenza nell'uso quotidiano.

Il Core i7-9700K funziona bene anche rispetto alle APU Threadripper AMD in alcuni benchmark. Nel complesso, tutte le APU Threadripper nelle nostre tabelle di confronto superano significativamente le loro controparti Intel nei benchmark multi-threaded. Al contrario, Intel ha ancora il vantaggio delle prestazioni del singolo core rispetto ad AMD, con il Core i7-9700K che supera del 17% rispetto all'APU Threadripper con il punteggio più alto nella nostra tabella di confronto Cinebench R15 single core benchmark.

Ciclo Cinebench R15 multi-core benchmark

Abbiamo anche sottoposto il Core i7-9700K ad un ciclo Cinebench R15 per verificare in che misura è in grado di mantenere le sue prestazioni sotto carico sostenuto. Come dimostrano i grafici che seguono, la nostra CPU di test si è comportata in modo coerente anche dopo circa 30 minuti e 55 passaggi del punto di riferimento del loop. Si prega di tenere presente che le vostre esperienze possono essere diverse, dato che abbiamo condotto i nostri test con un case di test aperto, durante il quale le temperature interne del Core i7-9700K hanno raggiunto il valore critico di 100 °C (212 °F).
La nostra CPU di test ha avuto una media di 4,6 GHz su tutti i core durante il benchmark Cinebench R15 in loop, che corrisponde alle specifiche Intel per il Core i7-9700K. Il nostro sistema di test ha avuto una media di appena 200 W durante questo stress test di riferimento. In breve, i processori desktop come il Core i7-9700K hanno generalmente meno problemi nel mantenere le loro prestazioni di picco durante un benchmark Cinebench R15 in loop rispetto ai processori equivalenti per notebook.

Prestazioni Gaming

Il Core i7-9700K è quasi equivalente al Core i9-9900K nei benchmark di gioco. I due processori sono separati solo da pochi punti nella valutazione delle prestazioni. Si prega di tenere a mente che il Core i9-7900X ha superato costantemente le sue controparti Intel in questi test grazie alla sua GPU più potente e non perché è una GPU di gioco migliore. Abbiamo testato la maggior parte delle CPU desktop nelle nostre tabelle di confronto con la stessa AMD Radeon RX Vega 64 però, quindi le nostre tabelle forniscono una buona base per confrontare la forza delle CPU nei giochi.

Il Core i7-9700K non può eguagliare il suo fratello più potente nei benchmark sintetici, anche se a causa del supporto Hyper-Threading del Core i9-9900K. Il Core i7-8700K è finito davanti al Core i7-9700K per lo stesso motivo. Tuttavia, quest'ultimo si comporta meglio nei benchmark di gioco. Quindi, raccomandiamo di prendere i benchmark sintetici con le pinze quando si decide tra i componenti.

Prestazioni con le Applicazioni

Il Core i7-9700K ha prestazioni simili a quelle del Core i9-9900K nelle applicazioni. Entrambe le CPU hanno un punteggio solido e finiscono al centro delle nostre tabelle di confronto PCMark 10, anche se le CPU Intel sono in testa al gruppo nel vecchio benchmark PCMark 8.

Il nostro sistema di test non ha mostrato grossi punti deboli nell'uso quotidiano, anche se equipaggiare il sistema con un'unità SSD NVMe lo avrebbe reso più veloce. Dubitiamo che la maggior parte delle persone noterebbero la differenza durante le attività generali, tuttavia, né gli 8 threads che il Core i7-9700K sono diventati un problema nell'uso normale rispetto ai 16 threads che il Core i9-9900K utilizza. La differenza tra le due CPU nelle applicazioni multi-threaded è notevole, ma questo diventerà tangibile nei giochi solo quando gli sviluppatori inizieranno a sfruttare i vantaggi dei core multipli. Intel afferma che il Core i7-9700K ha un TDP da 95 W, proprio come gli altri due processori desktop Core di 9a generazione. Tuttavia, abbiamo facilmente superato questo valore nei nostri test. Secondo HWiNFO, la nostra CPU di prova ha avuto una media di 135 W durante uno stress test e ha raggiunto il picco di 169 W, che è 70 W o quasi il 50% in più di quello che Intel sostiene che il Core i7-9700K consumerà. Inoltre, durante uno stress test, la nostra CPU è tornata a 4.4 GHz, poiché non è riuscita a mantenere stabilmente la sua potenza di picco. Consigliamo sempre di dotare un sistema di un AIO, ove possibile, perché sono più efficienti nel dissipare il calore rispetto ai sistemi di raffreddamento ad aria.

Sospettiamo che il de-lidding sia possibile, anche se l'inclusione di un sistema di dissipazione del calore saldato rende il processo più complicato che su un Core i7-8700K. Caseking vende una versione de-lidded per circa €669 (~$756) di der8auer, che l'azienda commercializza come Advanced Pretested Edition, se si desidera ottenere il massimo delle prestazioni possibili dalla propria CPU.

Caseking ci ha gentilmente fornito un'edizione pre-testata avanzata del Core i7-9700K per confrontare le sue prestazioni rispetto alla versione normale, e i risultati sono impressionanti. Il de-lidded può raggiungere una stabilità di 5.0 GHz su tutti i core, mentre la temperatura media del core si aggira intorno ai 10 °C (~18 °F) al di sotto del normale Core i7-9700K. Quindi, il de-lidding del Core i7-9700K potrebbe portare a prestazioni migliori e temperature più basse, ma la garanzia decade in questo modo. Pertanto, si consiglia di considerare la versione der8auer in quanto fornita con la garanzia di terze parti.

Abbiamo anche esaminato più da vicino il consumo energetico del nostro sistema di prova in diversi scenari. Il nostro sistema assorbe circa 63 W al minimo, che sono saliti in media a 222 W durante una prova da sforzo di un'ora. Il sistema ha consumato un massimo di 365 W durante la riproduzione di "The Witcher 3" a 1080p, anche se la AMD Radeon RX Vega 64 consuma molta potenza in questo scenario.
