AMD Radeon HD 7970M Crossfire (a volte chiamata ATI Mobility Radeon HD 7970 X2) è una combinazione di due schede grafiche high-end per portatili grandi e pesanti. Di solito, ogni singola card riproduce un frame. Pertanto, si può verificare micro stuttering in ranges fps bassi da 30fps. Questo accade a causa della differenza di intervalli di tempo tra due fotogrammi (i.e., ritardi irregolari tra fotogrammi in sequenza). La HD 7970M si basa sul chip desktop HD 7870 Pitcairn con 1280 1D shaders and 80 unità texture. L'architettura GCN (graphics core next) supporta il DirectX11 e l'OpenGL 4.2. I giochi più recenti e pesanti tipo Battlefield 3 di conseguenza sono utilizzabili in alta risoluzione, settaggi massimi ed antialiasing. Il consumo energetico della combinazione CF è molto elevato (2x 100 Watt) e di conseguenza le schede grafiche sono disponibili solo per grandi portatili desktop replacement.
