NVIDIA GeForce GT 755M SLI

La SLI NVIDIA GeForce GT 755M è una soluzione grafica high-end DirectX 11-compatibile per portatili, consistente in due GeForce GT 755M. Ogni scheda ha un core GK107 da 28nm basato sull'architettura Kepler. Con la SLI, ogni scheda di solito gestisce un singolo frame (modalità AFR). Di conseguenza, potrebbe soffrire di micro stuttering a bassi livelli di fps come 30fps. Questo accade a causa dei diversi timespans tra due frames (i.e. ritardo irregolare tra due frames sequenziali).

Rispetto alla GeForce 750M, la 755M SLI della 755M è associata soltanto con memoria grafica GDDR5 ed ha un clock leggermente più alto.

Architettura

Il core GK107 Kepler offre due shader blocks, chiamati SMX, ognuno con 192 shaders per un totale di 384 shader cores con stessa velocità clock del processor core. Sebbene ci siano più shader cores nell'architettura Kepler rispetto al design Fermi, gli shaders Kepler dovrebbero avere una efficienza energetica fino al doppio. Tuttavia, l'assenza dell'hot clock dello shader domain, due shaders di un chip Kepler sono veloci quanto uno shader di un chip Fermi, sebbene gli shaders Fermi hanno una velocità clock doppia.

Ora la serie mobile Kepler supporta anche il PCIe 3.0 ed il GPU Boost 2.0 può effettuare l'overclock automatico della scheda se il sistema di raffreddamento del portatile lo consente. Questa feature è disponibile su tutti i portatili con scheda grafica della serie 700M.

Prestazioni

Grazie ai clocks leggermente superiori, la GT 755M SLI è un po' più veloce rispetto alla precedente GT 750M SLI ed ha prestazioni simili ad una singola GeForce GTX 770M o GTX 680M. In base al gioco, possono però esserci grandi differenze, che dipendono da come si comporta la SLI nel caso specifico. Nel complesso, la maggior parte dei giochi attuali (del 2013) sono fluidi in 1080p e con settaggi (molto) elevati.

Features

Il set di feature include il supporto fino a 4 displays attivi. Inoltre, ora possono essere collegati monitors ad alta risoluzione fino a 3840x2160 pixels usando la DisplayPort 1.2 o la HDMI 1.4a se disponibili. Possono essere trasmessi codecs HD-Audio, come il Dolby TrueHD ed il DTS-HD, tramite modalità bitstream attraverso la porta HDMI.

La quinta generazione di processore video PureVideo HD (VP5) (integrato anche nel core GK107) offre la decodifica hardware di videos HD. I codecs comuni come il MPEG-1/2, il MPEG-4 ASP, l'H.264 ed il VC1/WMV9 sono pienamente supportati fino a 4K di risoluzione mentre il VC1 ed il MPEG-4 sono supportati fino a 1080p. Possono essere decodificati due flussi in parallelo per features come il Picture-in-Picture. Un'altra feature è l'inclusione di un motore di codifica video dedicato simile all'Intel QuickSync a cui si accede tramite l'NVENCI API.

Consumo Energetico

Il consumo della GeForce GT 755M SLI è doppio rispetto ad una singola 755M, e raggiunge circa 100 W. Ne consegue che, questa GPU Nvidia è adatta solo per grandi portatili gaming.
