La NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Super o 2080S si colloca dietro la GeForce RTX 2080 Ti come seconda GPU desktop pi˘ veloce dell'attuale linea NVIDIA Turing (met‡ del 2019). » il refresh della RTX 2080 (Desktop), di un anno fa, con prestazioni leggermente superiori. La GPU offre 3.072 cores (da 2.944 in su) ed Ë basata sul chip TU104. La VRAM Ë ancora costituita da 8 GB di GDDR6 ma ora ha un clock pi˘ elevato a 15,5 GHz (496 GB/s contro 14 GHz e 448 GB/s).

Caratteristiche

NVIDIA produce il chip TU104 in un processo FinFET da 12 nm e include funzionalit‡ come il Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) e il Real-Time Ray Tracing (RTRT), che dovrebbero combinarsi per creare effetti di illuminazione pi˘ realistici rispetto alle vecchie GPU basate sull'architettura Pascal dell'azienda (se i giochi lo supportano). La RTX 2080 Ë anche predisposta per la DisplayPort 1.4, mentre c'Ë anche il supporto per HDMI 2.0b, HDR, Simultaneous Multi-Projection (SMP) e H.265 video en/decoding (PlayReady 3.0).

Prestazioni

L'RTX 2080 Super supera leggermente la vecchia Nvidia Titan XP e naturalmente la RTX 2080 che ha succeduto. Pertanto, la RTX2080S si trova nella fascia alta assoluta e si adatta bene per il gioco a 4k con impostazioni da alto a massimo dettaglio (a seconda del gioco). L'utilizzo delle funzioni di raytracing, ridurr‡ comunque la risoluzione giocabile.

Requisiti energetici

NVIDIA stima che la RTX 2080 Super dovrebbe consumare un massimo di 250 W, ovvero 35 W in pi˘ rispetto alla sua GeForce GTX 2080.
