Intel Core i3 330M

L'Intel Core i3-330M è una CPU dual core di fascia medio bassa per portatili ed ha un clock da 2.16 GHz. La differenza rispetto alla Core i5-430M è l'assenza del Turbo Boost overclocking e la velocità core inferiore. Ogni core si basa sulla micro architettura Nehalem (Westemere). L'Hyperthreading consente alla CPU Dual Core di gestire 4 threads contemporaneamente (per un miglior utilizzo della pipeline).

Una feature della nuova Core i3-330M è la scheda grafica integrata chiamata Intel HD Graphics o GMA HD ed un controller di memoria DDR3 1066 MHz. Entrambi sono su un die separato realizzato in 45nm mentre il die della CPU è realizzato con il nuovo processo 32nm.

Le prestazioni nei sintetici benchmarks sono in genere alla pari con la Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz (grazie all'hyperthreading migliorato). La velocità dovrebbe essere veloce almeno quanto una Core 2 Duo a 2.2 GHz e di conseguenza l'i3-330M si colloca nella categoria medio alta. Dovrebbe gestire bene le applicazioni, ma alcuni giochi più esigenti potrebbero richiedere una CPU più veloce.

I cores CPU 32nm della generazione Westmere possono gestire anche alcune istruzioni nuove per accelerare le encryptions AES. Nell'i3-330M Intel ha disattivato le nuove funzioni AES.

La scheda grafica integrata Intel Graphics Media Accelerator HD (GMA HD) è nota per avere un clock fino a 500 MHz e dovrebbe essere nettamente più veloce rispetto ad una vecchia GMA 4500MHD. Il Core i5 ed i modelli i7 dovrebbero comunque essere più veloci a causa di una velocità clock superiore della GPU. Una GeForce 9400M (ION) dovrebbe essere più veloce (specialmente considerando che le schede Nvidia ed ATI hanno un miglior supporto driver rispetto ad Intel sino ad oggi). Stando ai rumors, il core GMA utilizzerà anche il Turbo Mode per regolare la velocità clock.

Il consumo di energia di 35 Watt TDP (max.) vale per tutto il pacchetto e di conseguenza è nettamente migliore rispetto ai 35 Watt di TDP della serie Core 2 Duo T (solo CPU).
