Intel P8700

L'Intel Core 2 Duo P8700 p un processore dual core di media classe per portatili. Sfrutta 2.53 GHz ed una level 2 cache condivisa da 3 MB. A causa della cache limitata (i modelli Core 2 Duo T in genere hanno 6 MB con questo clock rate), la TDP è di appena 25 Watt (invece dei 35 Watt dei modelli T). Tecnicamente, la P8700 è una P8800 con un clock inferiore.

Grazie alla velocità clock relativamente elevata, i giochi attuali (del 2009) non dovrebbero essere limitati dalla velocità della CPU (unitamente ad una scheda grafica di classe media). I giocatori più esigenti dovrebbero scegliere una Dual Core con un clock superiore (usando una GPU più potente).

La P8700 usa un core Penryn (Montevina Update) che sfrutta 2 unità integer, 1 unità floating point, 1 unità load, ed 1 unità store in una pipeline 14-stages. Grazie alla tecnologia Wide Dynamic Execution, il core è in grado di eseguire contemporaneamente fino a quattro istruzioni.

L'Enhanced Speedstep integrato è in grado di effettuare il downclock del core dinamicamente fino a 1200 MHz per risparmiare energia (in modalità di riposo).

Recensione Sony Vaio VGN-FW51MF Notebook

Ricco di Minerali. Il magnesio non solo fa bene alla salute come oligoelemento che aiuta i muscoli doloranti, ma è anche un ottimo materiale per la costruzione di portatili. Questo deve aver pensato Sony quando ha realizzato la serie FW con i suoi leggeri chassis. Potrete leggere se il bolide da 16.4 pollici riesce a convincere nella routine multimedia nella seguente recensione Sony Vaio FW51MF.

CULV? No grazie! Al giorno d'oggi possiamo osservare una moda imperterrita verso i portatili più piccoli. Mentre i dispositivi perdono grammo dopo grammo, le prestazioni scendono di pari passo, fino ai netbook - anche se Nvidia ha intrapreso la direzione contraria con la sua piattaforma Ion. Toshiba compie un ulteriore passo in avanti col sul U500. Malgrafo il formato compatto di 13,3", il portatile offre una potente CPU Intel Core 2 Duo, ed una scheda grafica dedicata di fascia media prodotta da ATI.
