Intel Atom Z3560

L'Intel Atom Z3560 è un SoC quad-core ad efficienza energetica per (principalmente) tablets e smartphones Android. Ha un clock fino a 1.83 GHz (Burst) e fa parte della piattaforma Moorefield. Grazie allo speciale processo ottimizzato in 22 nm low-power (P1271) con transistors tri-gate, le prestazioni e l'efficienza energetica sono migliorate nettamente rispetto al suo predecessore. Oltre ai cores CPU, il SoC integra una GPU PowerVR G6430 ed un controller di memoria Dual-Channel LPDDR3-1600 (max. 4 GB, 12.8 GB/s).

Architettura

I cores del processore si basano sulla nuova architettura Silvermont, che è un design out-of-order per la prima volta. L'incremento dell'utilizzo di pipeline e molti altri miglioramenti (branch prediction ottimizzata, buffers aumentati, decoders migliorati) hanno aumentato le prestazioni per clock di circa il 50 percento. Allo stesso tempo, tuttavia, la feature Hyper-Threading della precedente generazione Intel Atom è stata rimossa. Altre modifiche evidenti sono il supporto per il nuovo set di istruzioni come SSE 4.1 e 4.2 ma anche l'AES-NI (in base al modello).

Performance

Rispetto ad altri SoCs per smartphone e tablet, lo Z3560 offre prestazioni per clock relativamente elevate. In alcuni casi, il chip può competere anche con chips con clock superiori come il Qualcomm Snapdragon 800. Tuttavia, le prestazioni medie sono leggermente inferiori. Di conseguenza, lo Z3560 può essere classificato nella categoria medio alta dei SoCs mobile (di metà 2014).

Grafica

La GPU integrata non è stata sviluppata da Intel, ma su licenza della Imagination Technologies. La PowerVR G6430 si trova anche nell'Apple A7, ma qui ha un clock leggermente superiore da 457 - 533 MHz. Rispetto ad altre soluzioni grafiche mobile, la G6430 ha prestazioni simili o migliori rispetto allo Snapdragon 800/Adreno 330 o all'ARM Mali-T628 MP6. Tuttavia, la G6430 non sarà ai livelli delle GPU Adreno 420 e Tegra K1. Ma anche i giochi Android più pesanti del 2014 risulteranno fluidi con risoluzione elevata .

Consumo Energetico
