Intel Atom Z520

L'Intel Atom Z520 è un processore single-core a risparmio energetico per netbook / MID. Rispetto alla serie N Atom, la serie Z supporta la virtualizzazione nell'hardware ed ha la modalità riposo e le funzioni Demand Based Switching.

L'Atom core è stato progettato per un consumo minimo di energia e costi di produzione contenuti. La conseguenza sono le prestazioni basse per Watt (grazie all'esecuzione sequenziale) rispetto ai processori Celeron con clock simile, i.e.. Tuttavia l'Hyper-Threading integrato (il sistema operativo vede la CPU come CPU dual core) riduce lo svantaggio dell'esecuzione sequenziale.

Le prestazioni della Z520 sono paragonabili solo ad una Celeron M da 800-900 MHz e di conseguenza sono sufficienti solo per applicazioni poco impegnative come Office o navigazione web. Video HD, editing di immagini e video potrebbero creare problemi.
