Picture those measurements in your mind and you'll visualise a wide, thin notebook, which is precisely what the Vaio P is. Sony's Vaio P is a stunning looking piece of kit. But we aren't so sure about its capabilities or its value for money. Neither cheap enough to compete with netbooks nor efficient enough to compete with notebooks, it is difficult to see where it really fits in.

Unveiled in January at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the tiny but fully functional device sits somewhere between a netbook and an ultra-portable laptop. Sony wowed the crowds at CES this year when it unveiled the Vaio P-Series, a fully fledged netbook that could just about fit into your back pocket. As technically impressive as it is, the hefty price tag and several shortfalls means it struggles to live up to its shining entrance.

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 500:
Queste schede grafiche per portatili non sono adatte al gaming. Anche se dovessero funzionare, ci sarebbero diversi errori grafici e un frame rate molto basso. Questi chips non sono affatto per i gamers! Applicazioni internet e da ufficio, invece non sono problematiche per queste GPUs.

Intel Atom:
La Intel Atom è una serie a 64-Bit di microprocessori (non tutti i modelli supportano 64bit) per portatili economici e piccoli (chiamati comunemente netbooks), MIDs, o UMPCs (Ultra Mibile Persona Computer). La particolarità della nuova architettura è l'esecuzione "in order" (al posto della consueta e più veloce esecuzione "out of order"). Di conseguenza il transistor count della serie Atom è abbastanza inferiore, e quindi più economico da produrre. Inoltre, il consumo di energia è molto contenuto. Le prestazioni per Megahertz sono ovviamente peggiori rispetto ai vecchi Pentium 3M (1,2 GHz alla pari di 1.6 GHz Atom).
Z520: CPU single core energeticamente efficiente con prestazioni molto contenute. Offre maggiori features (risparmio energetico, VT-x) rispetto alla serie N Atoms.
