Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro APQ8064A
Il Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro APQ8064A è un SoC high-end per smartphones e tablets Android, introdotto nel 2012. Il chip integra 4 cores CPU, che si basano sulla architettura Krait della Qualcomm ARMv7-compatibile. Ciò consente prestazioni per-MHz superiori rispetto ai chips Cortex-A9 come il Tegra 3 Nvidia o l'Exynos 4412 Samsung, ma non raggiungono le prestazioni del Cortex-A15 (ad esempio il Tegra 4). Si accede alla memoria via 2 x 32 bit LPDDR2 fino a 533 MHz, che offre una banda da 8.5 GB/s.
L'APQ8064A integra una GPU Adreno 320 della IMG, che ha un clock da 400 MHz ed offre prestazioni di oltre 50 GFLOPS. Pertanto, l'unità grafica è una delle più veloci nel mercato SoC (inizio 2013) ed è superata solo da qualche modello come il PowerVR SGX554MP4 dell'iPad 4. Di conseguenza, anche i giochi più pesanti 3D sono fluidi con risoluzione elevata (Sony Xperia Z con display1080p display).
Grazie ad un decoder dedicato, il SoC può accelerare video 1080p fino ad un frame rate di 30 fps. Sono possibili foto 3D fino ad una risoluzione di 20 megapixels. In aggiunta, il chip integra anche un modulo wireless con Bluetooth 4.0 e WLAN 802.11ac/a/b/g/n. Prodotta da TSMC in 28 nm (LP), il consumo energetico dovrebbe essere intorno ai 4 watts (stimati, in base alla velocità clock).
