NVIDIA 3

Il processore NVIDIA Tegra 3 (T30) è un quad-core per tablets e smartphones introdotto alla fine del 2011. Sfrutta quattro cores Cortex A9 con clock elevato ed un quinto core con un clock da 500 MHz per ridurre i consumi (architettura 4-Plus-1). Il quinto core è realizzato con transistors low power e gira con un sistema energetico separato.

La velocità clock dei quattro cores riesce ad arrivare fino a 1.6 GHz (in base alla versione ed al carico del core). Un singolo core riesce a raggiungere una velocità clock superiore di 100 MHz (fino a 1.7 GHz attualmente).

Ci sono molte versioni diverse del SoC Tegra 3 attualmente in uso negli smartphones (AP) e tablets (T), i.e.:
T30SL / T30L 1.2 / 1.3 GHz, 416 MHz GPU, 1333 MHz DDR3: Asus Transformer Pad 300, Nexus 7, Sony Xperia Tablet S

T33A: 1.6 / 1.7 GHz CPU, GPU con clock e memoria superiori

La Geforce ULP integrata è simile alla versione del Tegra 2 ed offre 4 vertex shaders in più e qualche piccolo miglioramento.

Un collo di bottiglia del SoC è l'interfaccia di memoria da 32 Bit sebbene supporti fino a 2 GB DDR3-1600 / DDR3L-1500 / LPDDR2-1066.

Il decoder video incluso è in grado di riprodurre videos HD 1080p con un bitrate fino a 40 Mbit/s. Supporta i codecs H.264, MPEG-4, DivX, WMV e VC-1 (sebbene sia necessario un software come Dice Player per utilizzare l'accelerazione hardware).

Campione dei prezzi. HP rinnova il suo tablet più piccolo con lo Slate 7 Plus. All'interno troviamo un SoC Nvidia Tegra 3 e display a 7 pollici con risoluzione di 1280x800 pixel. La dotazione è standard, ma il prezzo dello Slate 7 Plus è a partire da 149 Euro (~$205). Di che tipo di dispositivo si tratta?
