Ambizioso. Con la quarta generazione della serie ZenFone, Asus sfida la concorrenza non solo con un prezzo competitivo ma anche offrendo una potente fotocamera. Inoltre, la ZenUI ha fatto un netto passo in avanti, che lo fa sembrare oramai adulto!

Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

To dim the screen, some notebooks will simply cycle the backlight on and off in rapid succession - a method called Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) . This cycling frequency should ideally be undetectable to the human eye. If said frequency is too low, users with sensitive eyes may experience strain or headaches or even notice the flickering altogether.
Screen flickering / PWM detected 11360 Hz ≤ 35 % brightness setting

The display backlight flickers at 11360 Hz (Likely utilizing PWM) Flickering detected at a brightness setting of 35 % and below. There should be no flickering or PWM above this brightness setting.

The frequency of 11360 Hz is quite high, so most users sensitive to PWM should not notice any flickering.

In comparison: 54 % of all tested devices do not use PWM to dim the display. If PWM was detected, an average of 10727 (minimum: 43 - maximum: 588200) Hz was measured.

Tempi di risposta del Display

I tempi di risposta del display mostrano quanto sia veloce lo schermo a cambaire da un colore all'altro. Tempi di risposta lenti poccono creare sovrapposizioni negloi oggetti in movimento. Specialmente i giocatori patiti del 3D dovrebbero usare uno schermo con rempi di risposta bassi.

Asus offre una attraente continuazione della sua serie ZenFone con lo ZenFone 4. Il design è elegante, ma semplice e le prestazioni di sistema convincono. La velocità di networking è impressionante, con l'LTE Cat 13 e le buone prestazioni WLAN. Unitamente alla nuova CPU Snapdragon, il Bluetooth è stato aggiornato all'ultima interazione e la localizzazione funziona bene. La GPU aggiornata catapulta lo ZenFone 4 nella sua classe ed il display è adatto all'utilizzo all'aperto. Purtroppo, usa il PWM. 

Con lo ZenFone 4, Asus offre uno smartphone con dotazioni competitive che non mostrano pecche, almeno nel nostro test. 

Nel complesso, lo ZenFone 4 lascia poco spazio alle critiche. Sfortunatamente, la sua porta USB è dello standard USB 2.0 e l'alimentatore è troppo piccolo per la tecnologia di ricarica rapida. La nostra impressione della fotocamera dual-lens è ambivalente: mentre la fotocamera principale è eccellente, quella secondaria non è allo stesso livello e ha le pecche dell'LG G5. La fotocamera produce foto eccellenti senza dubbio, ma la lente secondaria resta inutilizzata. 

Lo ZenFone 4 attira gli appassionati di musica con le sue features come l'audio high-resolution, DTS ed aptX HD, per non parlare del jack cuffie integrato. Per €500 (~$593), il prezzo sembra un po' eccessivo ma possiamo caldamente raccomandare lo ZenFone 4.
