Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

To dim the screen, some notebooks will simply cycle the backlight on and off in rapid succession - a method called Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) . This cycling frequency should ideally be undetectable to the human eye. If said frequency is too low, users with sensitive eyes may experience strain or headaches or even notice the flickering altogether.

L'MSI GE72 è un buon portatile gaming, ma l'utilizzo di una scheda grafica professionale è sufficiente a creare una buona workstation mobile? Non ne siamo convinti dopo la recensione, e l'MSI WE72 ha vita dura contro i concorrenti affermati. Spesso si ritorna alle radici gaming. Mancano porta docking, e Thunderbolt 3, quindi non potete usare docking stations.

Potrebbe non essere un problema in base al tipo di utilizzo, ma ci sono limitazioni anche in termini di prestazioni e di emissioni. Il raffreddamento ha problemi con il calore del processore, in quanto il clock cala sotto la frequenza base (throttling) anche se stressiamo solo la CPU con Cinebench. L'alimentatore da 120-Watt è un altro limite quando stressate entrambi i componenti. Le ventole possono essere ottimizzate, cosa possibile grazie al controllo delle ventole. Tuttavia, non c'è molta possibilità di migliorare viste le temperature elevate.

Poche business features e raffreddamento scarso: l'impressione della nuova workstation mobile MSI non è particolarmente convincente. La WE72 può avere senso in base al carico di lavoro, specialmente se considerate il prezzo attraente. 

Un vantaggio dell'MSI WE72 è il prezzo ($1799), in quanto i concorrenti Dell della serie Precision o i modelli ThinkPad P costano più di $3000. Se usate prevalentemente l'MSI WE72 per le applicazioni CAD e potete convivere con le citate limitazioni, potete inserirlo tranquillamente nella vostra shortlist.
