Verdetto - Un aggiornamento silenzioso per un funzionamento continuo

Con l'edizione 2027 dell'A5, Geekom propone un aggiornamento raffinato, seppur non spettacolare, del suo popolare mini PC. Il passaggio all'AMD Ryzen 7 7730U offre vantaggi agli utenti soprattutto in termini di rumorosità e consumi energetici: il sistema è sensibilmente più silenzioso ed efficiente rispetto al predecessore con Ryzen 7 5800H. La potenza di calcolo degli 8 core Zen 3 rimane più che sufficiente per il multitasking impegnativo in ambito lavorativo, le applicazioni web e il fotoritocco leggero. A ciò si aggiungono punti di forza già noti, come il telaio compatto, il veloce lettore di schede UHS-II e la flessibilità di espansione con un massimo di tre unità di archiviazione.

Tuttavia, gli acquirenti devono ancora accettare compromessi evidenti in termini di connettività moderna: senza USB4 o Thunderbolt, il Geekom A5 non offre alcun modo per aggiungere una scheda grafica esterna (eGPU). Anche la soluzione grafica integrata presenta limiti evidenti. Sebbene l'ormai datata Radeon RX Vega 8 sia perfettamente adeguata per tutte le attività grafiche quotidiane e per il gaming occasionale, limita fortemente i giocatori più esigenti nei titoli 3D più moderni.

Chi ha assolutamente bisogno di maggiore potenza grafica, di un'architettura più moderna o di porte più veloci non deve però cercare lontano. L'A8 della stessa Geekom è un'alternativa più potente che, grazie al suo AMD Ryzen 7 8745HS e alla grafica Radeon 780M notevolmente più veloce, gestisce con facilità anche le attività più impegnative.

In definitiva, il Geekom A5 (2027 Edition) rimane comunque altamente consigliato: un instancabile compagno di lavoro silenziosissimo, maturo ed estremamente affidabile per le moderne attività quotidiane d'ufficio, che si distingue per l'eccellente rapporto qualità-prezzo.

Dopo il predecessore con Ryzen 7 5800H, che abbiamo già testato, la nuova edizione deve affrontare l'agguerrita concorrenza dei rivali di GMK, Acemagic e Ninkear. Per circa 550 euro, Geekom promette prestazioni di tutto rispetto nell'uso quotidiano – ma come si comporta nella pratica il telaio già noto, e la persistente assenza di USB4 si fa sentire?

Custodie & Connettività

Dal punto di vista estetico e al tatto, l'edizione 2027 del Geekom A5 non differisce dal modello con AMD Ryzen 7 5800H (vedere la recensione del Geekom A5). Geekom continua a utilizzare lo stesso chassis delle serie A5 e IT: dimensioni e ingombro rimangono invariati. La struttura interna in metallo garantisce un'elevata rigidità, mentre la scocca esterna in plastica presenta la consueta finitura oro rosa. La qualità costruttiva è impeccabile, anche se un case interamente in metallo avrebbe ulteriormente migliorato la sensazione al tatto. È ancora incluso un supporto VESA per montare il dispositivo su un monitor.

Le porte sono identiche a quelle del predecessore: sono presenti sei porte USB in totale, due delle quali di tipo C. Tuttavia, USB4 e Thunderbolt sono ancora assenti. Entrambe le porte USB-C supportano la modalità alternativa DisplayPort, consentendo di gestire fino a quattro schermi contemporaneamente in combinazione con le due porte HDMI. La veloce porta LAN da 2,5 Gbit e il lettore di schede SD ad alte prestazioni con velocità UHS-II rimangono caratteristiche gradite.

Manutenzione

Il Geekom A5 può essere aperto facilmente allentando quattro viti sul lato inferiore, che funge anche da superficie di contatto per il raffreddamento dell'SSD. L'interno offre due slot SO-DIMM per RAM DDR4 e opzioni di archiviazione flessibili. Nel dispositivo è possibile installare fino a tre unità di archiviazione in totale. Tuttavia, per pulire la ventola della CPU è necessario smontarlo ulteriormente.

Sostenibilità

Per quanto riguarda la sostenibilità, Geekom si limita al funzionamento ad alta efficienza energetica dell'AMD Ryzen 7 7730U. Non sono disponibili dati dettagliati sull'impronta di carbonio. C'è inoltre margine di miglioramento nella riduzione dell'uso della plastica, poiché nell'imballaggio vengono ancora utilizzati elementi in plastica.

Sebbene l'AMD Ryzen 7 7730U (8 core, 16 thread) sia leggermente inferiore al Ryzen 7 5800H del precedente Geekom A5 in termini di prestazioni, la 2027 Edition colpisce per il consumo energetico notevolmente ridotto: invece di 35–54 watt, il chip si accontenta di un TDP di appena 15–28 watt.

Rumore del sistema

In idle, il Geekom A5 è completamente silenzioso, poiché il sistema di raffreddamento spesso si arresta del tutto. Anche nello stress test, il mini PC si dimostra estremamente silenzioso, con un massimo di 31,5 dB(A), senza mai produrre rumori fastidiosi. L'elevata efficienza dell'AMD Ryzen 7 7730U dà davvero i suoi frutti: in tutti gli scenari di carico, la nuova versione risulta nettamente più silenziosa rispetto al suo predecessore con Ryzen 7 5800H, decisamente più rumoroso.

Le misurazioni termiche non danno adito a critiche: nell'uso quotidiano, lo chassis rimane piacevolmente fresco. Sotto carico estremo con Prime95 e FurMark, la temperatura sulla parte superiore sale a un valore moderato di 39 °C. Non si sono verificate perdite di prestazioni dovute al throttling termico, nemmeno durante stress test prolungati.
