Il Geekom A5 con un AMD Ryzen 7 5800H in dettaglio

Case - Un volto familiare!

Se si dà una rapida occhiata al Geekom A5, si pensa subito che questo sembra familiare. E, in effetti, le somiglianze con il GeekomIT11eIT12sono evidenti e sono chiaramente evidenziate nelle immagini. Anche in termini di spazio richiesto, non ci sono differenze e questo sottolinea le somiglianze.

Non ci sono cambiamenti nemmeno per quanto riguarda la scelta dei materiali: La gabbia metallica interna è racchiusa da un involucro di plastica che conferisce al dispositivo un'eccellente solidità. Per quanto riguarda il design, Geekom ha preso una strada diversa e ha abbellito l'A5 con un colore oro rosa. Potrebbe non essere la tazza di tè di tutti, ma è certamente diverso dal grigio o dal nero scialbo. Abbinato alle periferiche bianche, l'oro rosa del Geekom A5 si adatta al concetto generale. Per quanto riguarda la qualità costruttiva, l'A5 non è affatto inferiore all'IT11.IT11e IT12. Ogni parte si adatta perfettamente e non ci sono spazi vuoti evidenti. L'unico punto critico degno di nota è la scelta del materiale, poiché un case in metallo di qualità superiore avrebbe potuto portare il feedback tattile a un livello ancora più alto.

Tra l'altro, proprio come molti altri mini PC, è possibile fissare il Geekom A5 direttamente a un monitor tramite il supporto VESA in dotazione.

Per quanto riguarda la connettività, inizialmente abbiamo osservato una buona selezione di porte che si trovano sulla parte anteriore e posteriore del dispositivo. Sono disponibili un totale di sei porte USB, di cui due sono connettori di tipo-C. Tuttavia, il produttore ha rinunciato all'USB 4 Thunderbolt. Tuttavia, una delle due porte USB-C consente di controllare direttamente un monitor. Ciò significa che il Geekom A5 può gestire fino a tre monitor contemporaneamente. Il Wi-Fi del Geekom A5 è intercambiabile

Il modulo radio presente nel Geekom A5 è un modello Wi-Fi 6 di Realtek. Tuttavia, il dispositivo non dispone della moderna connettività radio a 6 GHz, con il modulo Wi-Fi che opera nella banda di frequenza a 2,4 o 5 GHz. Tuttavia, le velocità di trasferimento misurate durante l'invio e la ricezione di dati sono buone e questo è sottolineato dal fatto che il dispositivo si trova in pole position nell'attuale confronto. Il modulo radio supporta anche le connessioni Bluetooth (5.2), il che significa che è possibile collegare in modalità wireless una cuffia o un mouse. Manutenzione

Geekom A5 è molto facile da aprire. La base è fissata da quattro viti e serve anche a dissipare il calore dall'SSD. È disponibile un secondo slot M.2, ma manca un pad termico sul lato posteriore. È possibile installare un totale di tre dispositivi di archiviazione di massa, come nel caso diGeekom Mini IT11 o con ilGeekom Mini IT12. Per poter accedere alla ventola della CPU, è necessario smontare ulteriormente il dispositivo. Purtroppo, la pulizia rapida non è possibile.

Prestazioni - Ryzen 7 5800H di AMD con 8 core Zen 3 e 16 threads

Con ilAMD Ryzen 7 5800Hil Geekom A5 ha un buon SoC, anche se non è più uno dei modelli più aggiornati. Con gli otto core Zen-3, l'A5 non ha motivo di nascondersi, perché i nostri test hanno rivelato buone prestazioni multi-core. Il Geekom A5 riesce a gestire senza problemi anche le applicazioni che richiedono molta memoria, grazie ai 32 GB di RAM e all'SSD da 512 GB.

Condizioni del test

Abbiamo eseguito tutti i test sulle prestazioni utilizzando il profilo energetico bilanciato. Non abbiamo modificato le prestazioni del SoC e abbiamo lasciato le configurazioni del BIOS in base alle impostazioni di fabbrica.

Processore

Il Geekom A5 è dotato di AMD Ryzen 7 5800H. Il SoC offre 8 core e 16 thread, che aiutano a ottenere buone prestazioni multi-thread. Il confronto diretto delle prestazioni mostra che il Geekom A5 è alla pari con il Geekom Mini IT12. Tuttavia, nelle singole discipline, l'AMD Ryzen 7 5800H presenta alcuni svantaggi quando si tratta di prestazioni single-core. Tuttavia, in termini di valutazione delle prestazioni, è ancora sufficiente per assicurarsi il terzo posto, ma il Geekom A5 viene lasciato sulle sue tracce dal Minisforum Venus Series NAB6. Con il mini PC basato su Intel Core i7-12650H, può aspettarsi circa il 10% di prestazioni in più.

Geekom A5 vs. Cinebench R15 multi-loop

Con il ciclo continuo di Cinebench R15, abbiamo avuto un primo sguardo sull'efficienza del sistema di raffreddamento installato e su come interagisce con il consumo energetico del processore. Inizialmente, abbiamo osservato il risultato migliore, accompagnato anche dal consumo energetico più elevato. In termini di temperature, abbiamo registrato 100 °C solo all'inizio del secondo ciclo. Ciò significa che le prestazioni si sono dovute ridurre un po'. Questo destino riguarda quasi tutti i dispositivi che operano sotto carico continuo. Nei benchmark sintetici relativi alle prestazioni del sistema, il Geekom A5 ha ottenuto un risultato relativamente buono in PCMark 10. Nel test Crossmark, il nostro dispositivo di recensione non è più riuscito a tenere il passo, per cui il Geekom A5 è riuscito a piazzarsi solo a metà classifica. Allo stesso modo, l'esemplare recensito ha completato con successo i test sulla RAM, anche se questo è stato sufficiente per ottenere il quarto posto. In quest'area, ilMorefine M600si trova in cima al gruppo grazie alle sue DDR5. Nell'uso quotidiano, non abbiamo osservato alcuna limitazione. Le latenze misurate del Geekom A5 non sono convincenti e non sono le migliori della categoria. Il sistema di recensione aveva già raggiunto tali latenze aprendo più schede del browser Edge. Tuttavia, non consideriamo questi valori come critici e raccomandiamo comunque di utilizzare il Geekom A5 come client di streaming, poiché la riproduzione di video 4K non ha comportato un aumento della latenza. Durante questa fase, l'iGPU è stata utilizzata a poco più del 30 percento. Anche Prime95 non ha comportato un peggioramento delle latenze.

Il Minisfourm UN1245e il Miniforum NAB6non sono all'altezza delle superbe prestazioni dell'SSD del modello presente nel nostro dispositivo di recensione. Tuttavia, il solido terzo posto ottenuto nel nostro confronto non è motivo di preoccupazione, poiché la differenza di prestazioni non è percepibile nell'uso quotidiano. Ciò che è più importante è la prestazione continua, che il Geekom A5 affronta con sicurezza. Le prestazioni di lettura rimangono stabili per lunghi periodi di tempo. IlMinisfourm UN1245vacilla leggermente in quest'area, il che rappresenta un vantaggio per il Geekom A5.

Il Geekom A5 può essere equipaggiato con due SSD M.2. Oltre agli slot M.2, il dispositivo offre uno slot da 2,5 pollici, il che significa che è possibile installare fino a tre dispositivi di archiviazione di massa. Tuttavia, occorre prestare attenzione all'altezza massima di 7 millimetri.

Il Geekom A5 si affida all'unità grafica integrata AMD Radeon RX Vega 8, che si trova nell'AMD Ryzen 7 5800H. Contrariamente a tutte le aspettative, il Geekom A5 offre prestazioni adeguate che gli consentono di assicurarsi il primo posto. Rispetto a Intel, AMD ha sempre avuto vita facile con le sue iGPU della serie Vega. Ma il duello interno con Morefine M600 è molto interessante e propende a favore dell'A5 di Geekom. Nei benchmark sintetici, l'AMD Radeon 660M non è in grado di offrire le prestazioni dell'AMD Radeon RX Vega 8.

Prestazioni di gioco

Nonostante le buone prestazioni 3D nei benchmark sintetici, non ci si deve aspettare troppo dallaAMD Radeon RX Vega 8. Nel suo nucleo, abbiamo ancora a che fare con una semplice iGPU. Tuttavia, ancora una volta, la macchina di Geekom è riuscita a imporsi sulla concorrenza, nel confronto. Poiché la maggior parte dei dispositivi di confronto sono dotati di processori Intel, i primi tre posti sono occupati esclusivamente da mini PC con processori AMD. In questo settore, la soluzione grafica integrata di Intel non è semplicemente competitiva. Tuttavia, sebbene il Geekom A5 non possa essere considerato un PC da gioco, il nostro esemplare in prova è in grado di gestire titoli semplici e meno recenti. Le prestazioni di gioco sono nettamente superiori con la HX99Gcosì come il NUCXi7 entrambi provenienti da Minisforum. Offrono prestazioni di gioco superbe grazie alla loro scheda grafica dedicata.

Le misurazioni del volume rivelano un chiaro punto debole del Geekom A5. In assenza di carico, il mini PC funziona in modo molto silenzioso, quasi in sordina. Ma se il Geekom A5 viene messo sotto pressione, le cose diventano rapidamente rumorose. Con un massimo di 47,8 dB(A), questo piccolo compagno di calcolo non può più essere ignorato. Nel confronto attuale, solo il Blackview MP200 è ancora più rumoroso, con 51,8 dB(A),

Temperatura

Come per molti altri mini PC, il case del Geekom A5 si riscalda solo leggermente. L'aria fresca viene aspirata ai lati e diretta fuori dal dispositivo nella parte posteriore. Con l'AMD Ryzen 7 5800H, sotto carico, abbiamo osservato temperature relativamente elevate, il che suggerirebbe che Geekom non sta limitando il SoC dal punto di vista termico o del consumo energetico. Il SoC ha raggiunto poco meno di 100 °C poco dopo l'avvio. Questa spinta a breve termine ha causato le temperature elevate che avevamo osservato anche durante l'analisi del multi-loop di Cinebench R15. Nel prosieguo dello stress test, la temperatura della CPU si è assestata a 89 °C non critici. A 35 watt sotto carico continuo, il SoC ha funzionato a un livello stabile.

In sostanza, i mini PC sono molto economici rispetto ai tradizionali PC desktop. Rispetto ai dispositivi concorrenti di questa recensione, inizialmente abbiamo osservato un basso fabbisogno energetico durante il funzionamento inattivo. Tuttavia, sotto carico, le cose cambiano e, con una potenza di poco inferiore a 90 watt, il Geekom A5 ha richiesto brevemente più energia rispetto ad alcuni concorrenti. Sotto carico medio, abbiamo registrato quasi 61 watt, un valore leggermente superiore a quello dei concorrenti dell'A5. L'alimentatore da 120 watt in dotazione è adeguatamente dimensionato, anche per due dispositivi di archiviazione di massa aggiuntivi.

Con il Geekom A5, lei ottiene un mini PC dall'aspetto intelligente, che sta percorrendo nuove strade per quanto riguarda il design dei colori.
