Nel Geekom A8 è installato un modulo WLAN MediaTek Wi-Fi 6E MT7922. Le prestazioni nelle nostre misurazioni sono buone e più che adatte all'uso quotidiano. Rispetto alla concorrenza, il nostro campione di prova si distingue solo in alcuni punti. Il modulo wireless può gestire le gamme di frequenza di 2,4 GHz, 5 GHz e 6 GHz. Per i test sulle prestazioni è stato utilizzato il router Asus ROG Rapture GT-AXE11000. Nel Geekom A8 è installata anche una presa RJ45, che può essere utilizzata come connessione di rete alternativa. Qui sono possibili velocità di trasferimento fino a 2,5 GBit/s.

Manutenzione

Geekom vende sempre l'A8 preconfigurato, il che significa che non deve necessariamente smontare il dispositivo. Tuttavia, la RAM e l'SSD possono essere rimossi e sostituiti, se necessario. Per smontare il dispositivo, deve prima rimuovere i piedini in gomma incollati sul lato inferiore. Sotto ci sono le quattro viti di fissaggio per rimuovere la piastra di base. Deve fare attenzione, perché il cavo dell'antenna WLAN non ha molto spazio di manovra e può essere danneggiato. C'è un'altra piastra metallica sotto la piastra di base, che deve essere rimossa se si vuole accedere all'SSD o alla RAM. Anche il modulo WLAN può essere sostituito e non è installato in modo permanente. La ventola della CPU si trova sull'altro lato della scheda e non può essere raggiunta senza smontarla completamente. Con un po' di destrezza, è possibile rimuovere l'intera unità (scheda con unità di raffreddamento) dall'alloggiamento.

Prestazioni - AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS con 8 core e 16 threads

Il AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS assicura un'eccellente velocità di lavoro nel Geekom A8. Tecnicamente, il SoC si basa sull'architettura Zen4 e combina otto core con 16 thread. Se desidera acquistare una configurazione più economica, il Geekom A8 può essere equipaggiato con il modello AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS che presenta velocità di clock leggermente inferiori.

Condizioni del test

Abbiamo eseguito tutti i test sulle prestazioni con il piano energetico Bilanciato. Le prestazioni del SoC e l'allocazione della RAM (512 MB) non sono state modificate nel BIOS e sono state lasciate così come sono state fornite, in conformità alle impostazioni del produttore. Cinebench R15 Multi loop

Il ciclo di resistenza Cinebench R15 è il nostro primo test di resistenza per vedere come il sistema di raffreddamento riesce a gestire il potente AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS. All'inizio, vediamo una prestazione abbastanza stabile del processore, che diminuisce leggermente nella seconda metà. Fino a 65 watt sono disponibili per il SoC nel breve termine, anche se si raggiungono poco meno di 50 watt in caso di carico prolungato. Il Geekom A8 presenta lo stesso modello che abbiamo già testato nel Geekom A7 Geekom A7. Il modello Acer offre prestazioni solide. L'Acer N5000 non è uno degli SSD più veloci, ma il dispositivo di archiviazione di massa supera a pieni voti l'uso quotidiano. Non ci sono problemi termici, il che è eccellente considerando il design compatto. Con 2 TB, il produttore ha anche installato un modello con molto spazio di archiviazione. Questo è un aspetto positivo, in quanto non è possibile installare un supporto dati aggiuntivo nel dispositivo.

Geekom A8 offre una porta USB4, che ci permette di testare il mini-PC in combinazione con le nostre schede grafiche esterne. Abbiamo testato il dispositivo in combinazione con GPD G1, Razer Core X e Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 Ti. Entrambe le soluzioni grafiche offrono prestazioni nettamente superiori rispetto all'iGPU del Geekom A8. Rispetto ad altri dispositivi, l'aumento delle prestazioni è di livello simile. C'è una piccola differenza con il GPD G1, che può offrire circa il dieci percento di prestazioni in più in combinazione con l'interfaccia OCuLink. Il Minisforum AtomMan X7 Ti è dotato di tale interfaccia e funge da modello di riferimento nella panoramica di confronto.

Il Geekom A8 è un mini-PC estremamente compatto, il che significa che nel dispositivo può essere alloggiata solo un'unità di raffreddamento molto piccola. Temperatura

L'involucro in alluminio del Geekom A8 si riscalda notevolmente quando è al minimo. Tuttavia, questo non è un problema, anche se la temperatura aumenta solo minimamente sotto carico. Le temperature superficiali a volte scendono addirittura, il che indica che la ventola non funziona quasi mai al minimo e quindi si accumula più calore nel dispositivo stesso.

L'AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS si riscalda fino a 85,5 °C durante lo stress test. Non si tratta di un valore critico, soprattutto perché si verifica solo per un breve periodo. Su un periodo più lungo, la temperatura della CPU si stabilizza a poco meno di 77 °C. Con 35 watt, il SoC funziona secondo le specifiche del produttore.

Soprattutto in modalità idle, il Geekom può vantare un basso consumo energetico. Sotto carico medio, abbiamo documentato 71 watt per il nostro dispositivo di prova. Il Geekom A8 raggiunge il valore di picco di 93,2 watt solo per un breve periodo. L'alimentazione è fornita da un piccolo alimentatore da 120 watt.

Il Geekom A8 è un PC estremamente compatto - con un volume di soli 0,5 litri, il Geekom A8 ha prestazioni straordinarie. Il AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS è in grado di dimostrare costantemente un'elevata velocità di lavoro. Con 32 GB di RAM DDR5 e un disco rigido da 2 TB, è ben equipaggiato per il momento. Tuttavia, a causa del design compatto, il SoC può essere utilizzato solo con un consumo energetico minimo. Tuttavia, il Geekom è in grado di svolgere le attività quotidiane senza problemi. In un confronto diretto con il Geekom A7, l'A8 non è all'altezza.

Il Geekom A8 si basa sullo stesso design del Geekom A7. L'alloggiamento, realizzato in modo eccellente, non solo è visivamente di alta qualità, ma ha anche una sensazione convincente. Semmai, il processo di smontaggio è degno di critica. Tuttavia, dato che Geekom vende sempre l'A8 preconfigurato, questo aspetto può essere trascurato. In alternativa al modello Ryzen 9, il Geekom A8 può essere ordinato anche con il Ryzen 7 8845HS (799 euro). In questo modo si risparmia un po' di denaro, anche se le prestazioni non dovrebbero essere sensibilmente peggiori. Tuttavia, dovrà fare una scelta per quanto riguarda la configurazione dell'SSD, in quanto Geekom offre solo il modello Ryzen 7 con un SSD da 1 TB.

Il Geekom A8 è un mini-PC elegante con prestazioni eccellenti. Grazie all'eccellente lavorazione e alla scelta di materiali di alta qualità, il Geekom A8 è un mini-PC di classe superiore.

Non c'è nulla di cui lamentarsi quando si tratta della selezione di interfacce esterne. La piccola centrale informatica offre un'ampia gamma di opzioni di connessione e, con l'USB4, un'interfaccia moderna al top che può ampliare la gamma di applicazioni. Se le prestazioni della veloce iGPU aka AMD Radeon 780M non sono sufficienti, il Geekom A8 può essere trasformato in un potente PC da gioco con una scheda grafica esterna.

In termini di design, Geekom A8 e Geekom A7 sono tra i mini-PC più belli che abbiamo testato finora. Tuttavia, il design compatto causa anche alcuni problemi e limitazioni. Ad esempio, le connessioni esterne sono molto vicine nella parte posteriore. Il livello di rumore sotto carico è un altro punto critico. Ci sarebbe piaciuto vedere un'unità di raffreddamento leggermente meglio calibrata da parte del produttore.
