Novità CES in recensione. Presentato da Sony al Consumer Electronics Show (CES) di Las Vegas, il Sony Xperia L2 è attualmente lo smartphone più economico del produttore Giapponese. Questo dispositivo da €249 (~$307; RRP), ha un lettore di impronte e gira con Android 7.1.1. Vediamo come si comporta l'Xperia L2 nei nostri tests.

Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

To dim the screen, some notebooks will simply cycle the backlight on and off in rapid succession - a method called Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) . This cycling frequency should ideally be undetectable to the human eye. If said frequency is too low, users with sensitive eyes may experience strain or headaches or even notice the flickering altogether.
Screen flickering / PWM detected 25510 Hz ≤ 100 % brightness setting

The display backlight flickers at 25510 Hz (Likely utilizing PWM) Flickering detected at a brightness setting of 100 % and below. There should be no flickering or PWM above this brightness setting.

The frequency of 25510 Hz is quite high, so most users sensitive to PWM should not notice any flickering.

In comparison: 54 % of all tested devices do not use PWM to dim the display. If PWM was detected, an average of 10570 (minimum: 43 - maximum: 588200) Hz was measured.

Tempi di risposta del Display

I tempi di risposta del display mostrano quanto sia veloce lo schermo a cambaire da un colore all'altro. Tempi di risposta lenti poccono creare sovrapposizioni negloi oggetti in movimento. Specialmente i giocatori patiti del 3D dovrebbero usare uno schermo con rempi di risposta bassi.

I lati positivi del Sony Xperia L2 comprendono l'ampia autonomia, uno spazio interno di 32 GB, un affidabile lettore di impronte e la sua buona costruzione. Ci saremmo attesi qualcosa in più nel 2018, in quanto l'Xperia L2 perde nei confronti della concorrenza, in particolare rispetto allo Huawei P Smart che è più potente ed una una dual camera oltre ad una versione aggiornata di Android.

Il Sony Xperia L2 si fa notare per autonomia, spazio di archiviazione e costruzione, ma non basta per giustificare i €249 (~$307).

Sebbene lo schermo di 5.5" abbia una buona dimensione, la risoluzione 720p è troppo bassa per uno smartphone del 2018. A peggiorare le cose ci sono le fotocamere e le prestazioni complessive, entrambe poco entusiasmanti. Una combinazione di CPU e GPU lente comportano un passo falso rispetto ad altri smartphones con prezzo simile che superano facilmente l'Xperia L2.
