Si comporta bene. L'HTC U Play è uno smartphone di fascia media con un case carino e alcune highlights: ad esempio, HTC installa un personal assistant chiamato Sense Companion. Ma l'U Play è convincente anche nel quotidiano?

Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

To dim the screen, some notebooks will simply cycle the backlight on and off in rapid succession - a method called Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) . This cycling frequency should ideally be undetectable to the human eye. If said frequency is too low, users with sensitive eyes may experience strain or headaches or even notice the flickering altogether.

L'HTC U Play si presenta bene, ha un personal assistant, due fotocamere high-resolution, ed altri extras nella confezione. Quindi, perché è così difficile dare una raccomandazione di acquisto nel competitivo settore di fascia medio alta? Bene, lo smartphone HTC sfortunatamente non riesce a competere con le varie features dei concorrenti per molti aspetti. Sebbene le fotocamere siano high resolution, entrambi i moduli hanno problemi con definizione e bordi in modalità UltraPixel. Il personal assistant è piacevole, ma molte apps con features simili si trovano nel Google Play Store. Le cuffie sono superbe ed innovative, ma manca un jack da 3.5-mm importante per molti utenti.

Sfortunatamente, le casse sono dietro gli standards HTC; la qualità del microfono è mediocre. E' difficile raccomandare questo dispositivo  in quanto l'HTC U Play offre prestazioni inferiori rispetto a concorrenti dello stesso prezzo. L'autonomia è sotto la media e questo è un altro problema dello smartphone.

HTC ha realizzato un dispositivo stiloso e relativamente solido di fascia media, installa una buona fotocamera frontale, e qualche software, e HTC usa uno schermo buono e fornisce alcuni extras. Sfortunatamente, gli aspetti come il suono, performance, ed autonomia restano sotto le attese.

In definitiva, l'HTC U Play è un solido smartphone di fascia media, ma la concorrenza offre di più. Coloro che cercano un dispositivo high-tech, personal assistant, e fotocamera frontale high-resolution avranno un dispositivo stiloso. Tuttavia, dovranno accontentarsi di una autonomia breve e di performance moderate.
