Dopo il test dello Xiaomi Mi Notebook Pro i7-8550U l'impressione è mista. Dopo la sorpresa del loop Cinebench R15 Multi 64 Bit con risultati inferiori allo Xiaomi Mi Notebook Pro i5-8250U, non siamo sicuri di cosa possiamo aspettarci da questo dispositivo. L'i7 è rimasto dietro quando abbiamo misurato le prestazioni di sistema nell'Home Score Accelerated v2, che ci ha fatto dubitare della costosa versione con Intel Core i7-8550U. In alcuni casi l'i7 non sembra offrire un vantaggio degno di nota.

L'i7 può superare l'i5 nelle prestazioni gaming e la CPU più potente si nota a tutti i livelli di risoluzione del display. Lo Xiaomi i7 riesce a gestire bene le temperature nonostante il case relativamente sottile e la Nvidia GeForce MX150 dedicata, e mantiene sotto controllo anche il throttling, sebbene preferiamo i risultati del modello i5 nel confronto diretto. Il vantaggio della CPU più potente sia nel gaming sia con le temperature leggermente più elevate si notano nel nostro punteggio.

Nonostante le prestazioni medie, che risultano buone ed affidabili, ma resta la sensazione che Xiaomi abbia scelto l'opzione più economica in molte aree.

Dalla connettività alle specifiche, notiamo qualche anomalia sulle scelte giuste. Ad esempio, la strana scelta di usare due porte USB Type-C di cui una utilizzabile per la ricarica e per collegare uno schermo esterno. O la mancanza di una porta Thunderbolt che avrebbe consentito l'uso di una scheda grafica esterna e una GPU desktop. Un peccato in quanto il dispositivo sarebbe stato interessante per i giocatori, in particolare per questo prezzo. I fotografi che usano schede SD possono risentire della lentezza del lettore che ha raggiunto un valore molto basso di 20 MB/s.

Al momento, il prezzo dello Xiaomi Mi Notebook Pro i7-8550U varia tra $1000 (8 GB di RAM) e $1150 (16 GB di RAM) su Gearbest, dove abbiamo comprato il dispositivo di test. L'upgrade della CPU dalla i5-8250U alla i7-8550U comporta un aumento del prezzo di $70 per la versione 8-GB di RAM. Ma non dovete dimenticare le tasse di importazione che faranno crescere il prezzo di almeno il 20%. Inoltre dovete fare attenzione ad alcuni rumors che dicono che Xiaomi sta per aprire una sede a Milano (già è presente in Spagna), ma nessuno sa se sarà possibile inviare lì i dispositivi per le riparazioni. Se siete comunque interessati all'Xiaomi sarete ripagati da un portatile affidabile e con prestazioni buone.
