Recensione dell'MSI Cubi NUC AI+ 2MG: Mini PC semplice per il business

Niente di troppo sofisticato.

Cubi 2MG privilegia l'affidabilità con un numero di funzioni generalmente inferiore rispetto alla concorrenza. Per quasi 900 dollari, tuttavia, le prestazioni per dollaro non sono una delle sue qualità migliori.

Verdetto - Semplice, ma forse troppo semplice

Come mini PC per le aziende, Cubi NUC 2MG è un'opzione semplice e affidabile, senza un'estetica appariscente. L'altoparlante integrato, i microfoni, il supporto Co-Pilot+ e la funzione Power Link possono essere utili in determinate condizioni o scenari di utilizzo, mentre la CPU Lunar Lake-V è generalmente più fresca ed efficiente rispetto alle attuali alternative AMD. Apprezziamo particolarmente il veloce lettore MicroSD integrato, dato che molti altri mini PC non dispongono di lettori di schede.

La nostra principale lamentela nei confronti di Cubi 2MG è il suo prezzo relativamente alto, pari a 900 dollari USA, quando mini PC AMD più veloci come il Beelink SER9 Pro o GMK NucBox K12 sono facilmente disponibili per centinaia di dollari in meno. Queste alternative hanno anche caratteristiche utili come la RAM rimovibile e il supporto per più SSD interni. MSI afferma di offrire un'assistenza clienti migliore e una garanzia di tre anni più lunga come standard per giustificare il prezzo richiesto, ma le prestazioni per dollaro sono comunque relativamente deboli.

Anche il comportamento della ventola potrebbe essere migliorato. A meno che non si utilizzi la modalità Silent, la ventola tende a pulsare e ad essere più evidente anche quando si eseguono carichi non impegnativi. Il ciclaggio dei tassi di clock della GPU, sebbene non sia un problema per la maggior parte delle impostazioni professionali, è comunque strano da vedere quando la maggior parte degli altri mini PC non presenta lo stesso problema.

Il Cubi NUC 2MG succede al Cubi NUC 1M dello scorso anno Cubi NUC 1M. Sostituisce la vecchia CPU Raptor Lake-U Core Ultra 7 150U con le più recenti opzioni Lunar Lake-V e apporta altre modifiche ausiliarie minori. La serie Cubi è ottimizzata per le aziende e gli ambienti di vendita al dettaglio, rispetto agli uffici domestici o alle applicazioni HTPC.

La nostra unità di prova è una configurazione di fascia media con CPU Core Ultra 7 258V, 32 GB di RAM saldata e SSD da 1 TB per circa 900 dollari USA. Le SKU inferiori partono dal Core Ultra 5 226V, mentre l'opzione di fascia più alta viene fornita con il Core Ultra 9 288V. In alcune regioni è disponibile una versione bianca.

Caso

Il telaio e le dimensioni rimangono per lo più invariati rispetto a Cubi 1M. La novità di Cubi 2MG, tuttavia, è il pulsante CoPilot dedicato sulla parte anteriore dell'unità. Il problema di questa funzione è che il pulsante fisico può essere difficile da raggiungere a seconda di come si posiziona il sistema sulla scrivania.

Per comodità, Power Link è supportato per accendere il dispositivo tramite alcuni monitor MSI. L'elenco dei monitor compatibili è disponibile all'indirizzo https://www.msi.com/blog/a-look-at-msi-power-link-conquering-convenience. Purtroppo, Power Link richiede ancora un adattatore CA per il mini PC e quindi non è una vera e propria soluzione "con un solo cavo".

Connettività

Le opzioni delle porte sono leggermente cambiate rispetto a Cubi 1M. Ora c'è solo una porta HDMI invece di due, oltre a un numero inferiore di porte USB 3.0.

Si noti che, pur essendo presenti due porte USB-C Thunderbolt 4, solo una delle porte supporta l'alimentazione fino a 100 W in caso di indisponibilità dell'adattatore CA principale.

Manutenzione

Il pannello inferiore si stacca facilmente con un cacciavite Phillips per una rapida manutenzione. Purtroppo è supportata solo un'unità SSD PCIe4 x4 M.2 2280 interna, senza RAM rimovibile. Al contrario, il NucBox K12 supporta fino a tre SSD M.2 e due moduli RAM SODIMM rimovibili.

Sostenibilità

Il telaio è costituito dal 37,25 per cento di plastica riciclata post-consumo, mentre l'imballaggio interno è costituito da cartoni certificati FSC realizzati con polpa di legno proveniente da fonti sostenibili.

Accessori e garanzia

La scatola di vendita include una staffa di montaggio VESA rimovibile e un pratico pulsante di accensione con cavo da 19 pollici per accendere il PC se si trova in un'area difficile da raggiungere.

La garanzia limitata del produttore di tre anni è standard, rispetto a quella di un anno della maggior parte degli altri mini PC negli Stati Uniti.

Abbiamo impostato MSI Center in modalità Performance prima di eseguire i benchmark qui sotto.

Processore

Il Core Ultra 7 258V è quasi il 50 percento più veloce del vecchio Core 7 150U del Cubi NUC 1M dello scorso anno, per quanto riguarda le prestazioni multi-thread grezze. Inoltre, è dotato di una NPU integrata, mentre il Nuc 1M non lo era per il supporto di Co-Pilot+.

Aggiornamento al Core Ultra 9 288V Non dovrebbe aumentare le prestazioni di un margine significativo, mentre il downgrade al Core Ultra 5 226V ridurrà le prestazioni solo di qualche punto percentuale.

Il Arc 140V in Cubi 2MG ha prestazioni inferiori alla media di circa il 35% secondo i benchmark 3DMark. I risultati deludenti sono dovuti al ciclaggio delle frequenze di clock della GPU e allo stuttering, come menzionato nella sezione Stress Test di cui sopra.

Nei carichi di lavoro della GPU in cui la stabilità dei frame rate potrebbe non essere importante, come nel caso dei renderer o di oneAPI, Cubi 2MG si comporta come previsto rispetto ad altri PC con la stessa CPU e GPU. Lo stuttering dovrebbe quindi essere un non problema per la maggior parte dei professionisti del settore.

I frame rate quando erano al minimo su Cyberpunk 2077 a 1080p con impostazioni Ultra oscillavano tra i 18 e i 26, mentre ripetendo questo test su NucBox K12 avrebbe prodotto una frequenza media di fotogrammi più stabile, pari a 23. Questo balbettio si verificava anche durante l'esecuzione di altri giochi del nostro test.

Gestione dell'energia

Consumo di energia

Il consumo complessivo è notevolmente inferiore a quello di un mini PC della serie H di AMD, come il GMK NucBox K12 anche se il nostro Arc 140V integrato è approssimativamente paragonabile alla Radeon 780M integrata della concorrenza quando si gioca. Le prestazioni per watt sono generalmente a favore di MSI Cubi, anche se a scapito delle prestazioni grezze del processore, rispetto a molte alternative AMD Zen 4 o Zen 5.

Il consumo durante l'esecuzione di Cyberpunk 2077 oscillava tra i 28 W e i 49 W apparentemente senza motivo, il che si allinea con i nostri frame rate instabili e le frequenze di clock della GPU menzionate in precedenza.
