For the price, the MSI Modern 15 offers a stunning design, good connectivity, great performance and a finely-tuned screen. Unfortunately, I wasn’t the biggest fan of the laptop’s hinge, and the battery life while good, could’ve been better. Regardless, the MSI Modern 15 hits more than it misses and therefore, gets a vote of recommendation from me.

And although the bigger picture is a lot more blurry than this, we can say for sure that this device delivers a ton of performance with its Tiger Lake processors. In terms of appearance, it lives up to its name, and the sleek aluminium laptop can easily pass for being more luxurious than is actually the case. The processing power is also perfectly fine for everyday use, whether it is in the office, at home or at the studio. It comes into competition with machines like the slightly more expensive Acer Swift 3X, which is equal in terms of performance but does not have the solid metal case. The graphics card is downright dull. But unlike MSI’s other computers, it’s not made for gaming and heavy graphics either.

EN→ITThe MSI Modern 15 is a budget laptop with enough power and storage for taxing productivity jobs. A Dell XPS 13 with similar internals costs twice as much. And unlike a lot of basic, pragmatic laptops, the MSI Modern 15 has a low-key sense of style; it doesn’t immediately look or feel too cheap. There are a couple of issues that a lower price can’t eclipse, however. This laptop’s colour saturation is poor, and while the screen looks remarkably good considering how weak the colour is, photo editors and video creators should consider whether this is too big a hurdle to get over. The MSI Modern 15’s battery isn’t fit for all-day use, either – although MSI does have a higher-capacity model in some countries for which lasting the day shouldn’t be a problem. Other cheap Windows laptop options include the Surface Laptop Go 2 and Acer Swift 3, but the MSI is nevertheless an excellent option if you fancy a 15.6-inch display.

EN→ITThere are a few minor things, like the single USB-C port and the soldered RAM we wish were different on the Modern 15. However, this is a serviceable piece of hardware that delivers excellent value. Only time will tell if it can survive deployment in a business environment for more than the limited warranty period, but that’s also true for some of the most expensive laptops. At this price, this might be an excellent choice for a student if they can be convinced to take care of it. The highlight of this design is the Core i7-1255U, a major improvement over some of the remarkably mediocre mobile chips that Intel has produced in recent years. Having the Iris graphics core is also very helpful for those that want to do anything graphical or output video playback in 4K to a TV, but not anything useful for CAD or game development. A single year of warranty isn’t great, and neither is the stickers that attempt to restrict internal upgrades, even if these are mostly reduced to replacing the NVMe drive and the battery. With such a short warranty, we’d encourage any owner to find a branded Gen 3 NVMe drive of at least 1TB capacity and sling the Kingston OEM drive that MSI imposed on it as soon as it expires. Overall, a great machine that could give many years of good service to a careful owner.

EN→ITI like the look and feel of the MSI Modern 15 B13M. The metal-and-plastic enclosure is sturdy, and the navy blue color looks sharp. The display and speakers, however, are disappointing and make the laptop less appealing for home use unless it's spending most of its time on a desk connected to an external monitor and speakers. If you are reading this review and see the Modern 15 B13M on sale for hundreds less than its $950 list price, then it's worth considering, assuming you can live with its shortcomings. Otherwise, I urge you to pass on it in favor of the similarly outfitted HP Pavilion 15t-eg300 that can usually be found at a steep discount. Or the Acer Aspire 5. Or spend a bit more for the $1,200 Acer Swift Go 16, which is lighter and faster and offers a larger and far superior OLED display.

EN→ITAlthough the $999 Modern 15’s Intel Core i9-13900H processor is impressive on its own, the rest of the laptop holds it back. Its power adapter draws less power than the processor can handle, and the DDR4 modules limit the processor’s memory transfer speeds well below what they could be. If you’re willing to get your hands dirty (and spend a bit extra for the sticks), you can squeeze out a bit more performance with a DIY memory upgrade. But overall, the Modern 15 is still a middling laptop with no standout features. There are a few laptops under $1,000 with more power draw for better performance or with a better display.The Acer Nitro 5, Acer Swift X 14, and Asus Zenbook 14X OLED laptops push out just as much performance, include faster DDR5 memory, and have better displays and battery life.

EN→ITAlmost any laptop nowadays is fine for Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace, but a bargain-priced notebook with a Core i9 processor and 32GB of memory sounds like a boon for users of Adobe Photoshop or Premiere or other high-end applications. That's about all the MSI Modern 15 offers—its screen is a serious letdown, its integrated graphics can't keep up with its CPU performance, and that chip scored below most other Core i9 models in our benchmark tests. Whether you want all-around performance or just conveniences like a fingerprint reader and 1080p webcam, you would be smart to spend a few hundred more.

Ridurre la distanza delle Schede Grafiche per gli utenti che vogliono utilizzare il videogiochi. I nuovi giochi dovrebbero funzionare su queste schede, ma con riduzione dei dettagli e risoluzione mediocre.
NVIDIA GeForce MX250:
Successore dell'MX150 e ancora basata sullo stesso chip Pascal GP108 (simile alla desktop GT 1030) ma con velocit‡ di clock pi˘ elevate. Disponibile in due versioni, una versione normale da 25 Watt e una versione a bassa potenza con TDP da 10 Watt e prestazioni ridotte. La versione da 25 Watt, ad esempio, offre un clock boost del 21% in pi˘ rispetto alla vecchia MX150, con un guadagno di prestazioni del 5%.
Intel UHD Graphics 620:
GPU integrata (GT2, 24 EUs) si trova su alcuni modelli CPU Kaby-Lake-Refresh (15 W ULV series). Tecnicamente è identica alla precedente GPU Kaby-Lake chiamata HD Graphics 620.
NVIDIA GeForce MX330:
Successore dell'MX230 e molto probabilmente una GeForce MX250/MX150 rinominata GeForce basata sul chip Pascal GP108 con 384 shader e un bus di memoria a 64 bit per GDDR5.

I core della CPU possono clockare tra 1,8 e 4,9 GHz (tutti e 4 i 4 core a 4,3 GHz max.) con HyperThreading (8 thread). Il controller di memoria integrato supporta DDR4-2666 e utilizzando cTDP su/giù le prestazioni possono essere regolate dall'OEM (10 - 25 Watt possibili, 15W di default).
i5-10210U: Processore quad-core a bassa potenza basato su Comet Lake (tecnicamente identico a Whiskey Lake e ancora prodotto in 14nm++). I core della CPU possono clockare tra 1,6 e 4,2 GHz (tutti e 4 i core a 3,9 GHz max.) con HyperThreading (8 thread).
