Le prestazioni del flagship di Samsung sono allo stato dell’arte grazie al SoC più potente del momento per Android. Il materiale di interfaccia termica lungo i lati del processore consente una dissipazione del calore più efficiente su una superficie maggiore: è possibile continuare a utilizzare l’S26 Ultra per attività impegnative come il gaming o la registrazione video in alta definizione senza che si surriscaldi o rallenti. Il Galaxy S26 Ultra non si discosta radicalmente dal suo predecessore: conserva le caratteristiche che hanno reso celebre l’S25 Ultra, aggiungendo al contempo alcune funzionalità uniche e portando a piena maturazione la simbiosi tra hardware e software. Il Privacy Display e il blocco orizzontale sono due delle sue caratteristiche più interessanti, soprattutto perché intuitive e pratiche, anziché semplicemente appariscenti.

La cosa interessante è che Samsung permette di configurare in modo dettagliato il comportamento del Privacy Display, che si può attivare sempre, in modalità massima oppure in determinate condizioni o all’apertura di specifiche applicazioni. Nel menu “Schermo privacy” c’è la voce “Massima protezione privacy” che minimizza la possibilità che occhi indiscreti possano leggere il display portando la funzione privacy al massimo livello di funzionamento. Riduce leggermente la qualità visiva ma è un toccasana per togliersi qualsiasi dubbio. Ma la vera chicca è nel pannello “Condizioni per l’attivazione” che permette al Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra di attivare il Privacy Display all’apertura di qualsiasi app sia installata nello smartphone: si attiva mentre si usa l’applicazione, si disattiva quando si esce; tutto in automatico. Mentre consigliamo di tenere sempre attivo il Privacy Display solo per la digitazione del pin, password o segno. Questo perché l’autenticazione dello smartphone sarà protetta da chiunque voglia spiarvi proprio in questo momento cruciale. Consigliamo anche di tenerlo attivato per i popup di notifica: le chat di WhatsApp, le chiamate e qualsiasi altra notifica saranno protetti ad hoc.

Il Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra resta lo smartphone Android più completo del 2026. Non vince la gara della batteria né quella della ricarica ultra-rapida, non ha più il titanio, ma offre comunque un pacchetto software e hardware che nessun altro produttore riesce a eguagliare per maturità e completezza dell'ecosistema, con qualche chicca esclusiva come Privacy Display e S Pen. Il prezzo di listino di 1.499 euro è molto elevato e lo mette in una fascia dove ogni compromesso viene, giustamente, analizzato al microscopio da chi pondera la spesa. Non ha senso passare da un S25 Ultra a questo modello, ma per chi cerca un computer da taschino affidabile, nel mondo Android la risposta è qui.

Il Samsung Galaxy S26 Plus è uno smartphone che mi ha convinto. Non perché faccia la voce grossa in una singola categoria, ma perché riesce a fare molto bene quasi tutto. Ed è proprio questa la sua forza. Mi è piaciuto il design, mi è piaciuto il display, mi è piaciuta l’autonomia, mi è piaciuta la solidità dell’esperienza software, mi sono piaciute le performance e mi è piaciuto anche il comparto fotografico nel suo essere concreto e ben bilanciato.È uno smartphone premium vero, non soltanto per scheda tecnica ma proprio per esperienza complessiva. Lo usi e senti che c’è qualità, che c’è lavoro dietro, che c’è una visione chiara del prodotto.Però torno sul punto iniziale, che secondo me è il vero cuore della recensione: va comprato al prezzo giusto. Perché se il costo resta troppo alto, allora inevitabilmente iniziano i confronti con altri modelli, con altri brand, con altri tagli di memoria, con altri top di gamma magari più aggressivi. Se invece si trova con la promo corretta, con la permuta giusta o con uno street price più sensato, allora cambia completamente faccia e diventa uno smartphone davvero molto interessante. Ma è promosso soprattutto per chi cerca un top di gamma equilibrato, maturo, affidabile, molto piacevole da usare e capace di dare tanto nella quotidianità.

Crediamo che quella del Galaxy S26 Ultra sia una delle recensioni più difficili che abbiamo dovuto scrivere in questi anni. Perché per quanto sia un ottimo dispositivo che migliora gran parte di quelle che possono essere stati gli aspetti criticati di S25 Ultra ci troviamo davanti ad un prodotto che non riuscirà mai a mettere d’accordo tutti. Il titolo che abbiamo scelto, questione di coraggio, riflette proprio la scelta di Samsung di fare alcune scelte, come ad esempio di mettere un Privacy Display che aveva, per tecnologia, alcune controindicazioni ma di tenere una penna che probabilmente molti avrebbero sacrificato in favore di una batteria più grande a doppia cella. Anche da 6.000 mAh, che senza S-Pen ci stava. Samsung non ha neppure avuto il coraggio, e secondo noi deve trovarlo, di stravolgere la OneUI inserendo tutto quello che oggi offre opzionale tramite Good Lock, come se non si rendesse conto che tutti quei moduli che abilitano migliaia di diverse possibilità di configurazione sono un valore che nessuno, neppure Google, può dare.

Stiamo usando il Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra ormai da un paio di settimane e arriveremo anche con la recensione approfondita, per la quale vogliamo prenderci qualche giorno ancora in quanto un device così importante non può essere testato nel giro di una manciata di giorni. Come del resto non approcciamo i modelli flagship più innovativi limitandoci a giorni (spesso a ore) di test. Il Galaxy S26 Ultra merita un approccio più ragionato, anche perché Galaxy ha sparso tante novità e diversi miglioramenti. Uno su tutti è rappresentato dal Privacy Display o, come è descritto nel menu della One UI 8.5 (basata su Android 16), lo “Schermo privacy” che evita a occhi indiscreti di poter leggere o vedere ciò che stiamo osservando sul display. Se volete uno smartphone completo in tutto, la serie Ultra di Samsung rimane probabilmente una delle migliori in assoluto. Con il nuovo Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra potete fare praticamente tutto e farlo sempre molto bene! Vale la pena fare l’upgrade da Galaxy S25 Ultra? Personalmente dico sempre che cambiare smartphone da un anno all’altro raramente ha senso. Tirando le somme di questa lunga prova su strada, Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra appare come una conferma di un percorso ben delineato, dove la tecnologia non è un fine ma un mezzo per migliorare l'interazione quotidiana. Non abbiamo trovato un singolo aspetto che possa essere definito un fallimento; ogni funzione è stata rifinita con una cura. Il salto qualitativo rispetto alla generazione precedente è percepibile soprattutto nella fluidità del sistema e nella coerenza dell'esperienza fotografica, due pilastri su cui poggia l'intera struttura del prodotto. La solidità costruttiva, unita a un display che attualmente non ha rivali sul mercato, lo rende il punto di riferimento per chiunque cerchi il massimo dalla tecnologia mobile. Abbiamo apprezzato la scelta di non stravolgere un design che funziona, preferendo invece affinarlo per renderlo più comodo e piacevole da usare.

Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra è uno di quei prodotti che, visti da lontano, rischiano di sembrare “la solita evoluzione”. Poi lo usi davvero e ti accorgi che il lavoro fatto c’è, si sente e in alcuni punti cambia concretamente l’esperienza. Non è uno smartphone che rivoluziona la formula, ma è uno smartphone che la rifinisce con intelligenza. Il punto è proprio questo: Samsung non ha inseguito a tutti i costi la scheda tecnica da effetto wow. Ha preferito intervenire dove serve davvero, mettendo sul piatto un display da 6,9 pollici con Privacy Display integrato, un comparto fotografico ancora più luminoso, il nuovo chip Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy e una One UI 8.5 che continua a spingere forte sul tema Galaxy AI.

Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra è acquistabile nel taglio 12GB/256GB al prezzo consigliato di 1499 euro, nella versione 12GB/512GB a 1699 euro e infine nel taglio 16GB/1TB a 1999 euro. Durante l’anteprima vi avevo raccontato di alcune promozioni che portavano il taglio da 512GB al prezzo di quello da 256GB; successivamente sono arrivati anche ulteriori coupon e offerte di trade-in, ma non così aggressive come quelle che avevano accompagnato il lancio di Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. Su Amazon è ancora presente la versione 512GB a 1499 euro, un prezzo tutto sommato in linea con la concorrenza se guardiamo al segmento dei top di gamma, ma chiaramente non alla portata di tutti.L’accoglienza iniziale sembra essere stata leggermente più fredda rispetto a quella di S25 Ultra. Dai primi dati disponibili il pubblico è rimasto molto colpito dalle novità, soprattutto dal Privacy Display, ma alla fine il prezzo continua a fare la differenza e molti utenti probabilmente stanno semplicemente aspettando ulteriori cali nei prossimi mesi.Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra Smartphone AI, 512GB, 3 anni di Garanzia, Privacy Display Integrato, Processore Potente, Assistente Foto, Nel breve termine vorremmo realizzare alcuni confronti con altri top di gamma tra quelli che abbiamo a disposizione: OPPO Find X9 Pro, Honor Magic 8 Pro, Xiaomi 17 Ultra, Google Pixel 10 Pro e iPhone 17 Pro Max.

Arrivati in fondo, Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra lascia una sensazione abbastanza precisa. Siamo probabilmente di fronte al dispositivo Android di riferimento per ciò che riguarda software, AI, produttività e innovazione dell’esperienza d’uso. Samsung, oggi, continua a essere il marchio che più di tutti prova a tenere insieme hardware premium, funzioni intelligenti, ecosistema e caratteristiche esclusive in un unico prodotto. Una parte importante del merito va anche a One UI 8.5, che è fatta bene, è ricca, matura e oggi riesce a dare al telefono un’identità molto chiara. A questo si aggiunge una politica di aggiornamenti lunga, che su un prodotto di questa fascia ha un peso reale, e una base hardware che garantisce prestazioni elevate in ogni contesto. Il telefono va forte, è fluido, è sempre pronto; resta solo il fatto che, quando lo si stressa un po’ di più, scaldicchia più del previsto, senza che questo diventi un vero problema ma facendosi comunque notare.Questo però non significa che il pacchetto sia perfetto.

Video is also a strength from the main camera in particular, especially with the improvements to Nightography. The problem is that the camera hardware doesn't stand out.

Battery life was dreadful on the regular S26 and Plus models - so how is it here on their Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra sibling? I've taken over 1000 photos and shot a lot of video with this mega-phone too. While the camera hardware hasn't changed much vs the S25 Ultra, I have seen some clear improvements on the Samsung S26 Ultra. Although it's still not as impressive as the OPPO Find X9 smartphones. So that's my review, hopefully everything you need to know about one of the most expensive flagship phones of 2026. Once again, Samsung has made a fantastic phone with the Galaxy S26 Ultra. There’s not a huge amount to criticise about it – aside from the fact that once again it’s a small, incremental jump from the previous model. Perhaps my biggest gripe is that there remains only one size of phone available – for those of us who don’t want massive phones, but still want the best camera, it’s a shame not to have options. Anyway, it’s safe to say, if you’ve got an S25 Ultra, I can see little reason to immediately upgrade to this. That’s probably even true if you’ve got an S24 Ultra, too. It’s a big, shiny phone with a big, shiny price tag, which means there are lofty expectations for it to meet. And, if you ask me, it largely meets them with the Galaxy S26 Ultra — but it does so with a different goal than its predecessor. See, where the Galaxy S25 series was all about pushing Galaxy AI into your face in the hopes that it would paper over the cracks of an otherwise underwhelming update, the Galaxy S26 Ultra doesn’t make the same push. It relies on power, precision, reliable hardware, and Samsung’s typically excellent software support (seven years of updates here, as expected), and I think it works out much better than the previous generation, though I can understand why anyone might feel it still doesn’t have enough new to offer — my colleague Paul was a bit more underwhelmed in his video review.

I may be in the minority but might I suggest and pitch an S-Ultra handset with dimensions more similar to the base S26 model. Not an S25/26 Edge, not the plus model; 6.3-inch display, best chip you can put in it, spanking new and reliable camera system, no need for periscope zooms, ditch the S-Pen (that was a Note series thing anyways), UWB, ToF sensor. Make it happen, take my money.

That said, when you’re spending the kind of money it asks for, you can’t be looking at just one or two features that work in its favour, or don’t. You need to consider the whole package. In terms of competition, there’s its arch nemesis, the iPhone. The iPhone 17 Pro Max can’t be ignored in the premium segment, and that’s the one most likely to be considered as an option when eying the S26 Ultra. And Apple is the only other brand (the very first one in fact), that has a super-strong ecosystem play. And if you’re confused between the iPhone and the Galaxy, the answer lies in that one word — ecosystem. Choosing one means choosing the side you want to be on. On the Android side of the fence, competition has heated up. The Google Pixel 10 Pro XL is another strong contender, with camera and AI being its core strengths. However, performance isn’t its strong suit.

Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Ultra is easily one of the best phones I’ve ever used. While it’s not perfect, it just works and nothing seems too difficult or confusing. Having Bixby, Gemini and Perplexity on one device is kind of overkill, but that just shows the number of options that are available on the device. It doesn’t have the OnePlus 15’s battery, but takes better pictures, has a slimmer design and is sold at Canadian carriers. I prefer the selfies on the Pixel 10 Pro, and I always miss Now Playing when I leave the Pixel, but the S26U still offers great photography, a better battery, and is far more powerful. There’s give and take with just about any phone on the market, but overall, this is a solid package. It’s expensive (compared to those other devices), which is worth mentioning, but you’re paying to have a great phone, a jack of all trades and a master of some, and that might be worth it for some users. Samsung’s 256GB Galaxy S26 Ultra costs $1,899.99, which again is an expensive pill to swallow, even if it is a bit more affordable than last year’s S25 Ultra.

The camera hardware is starting to look conservative next to Chinese rivals, and the 10MP 3x telephoto feels particularly dated, but Samsung’s mature image processing still delivers bright, detailed shots with more natural colour than previous generations and class-leading zoom up to around 30–40x.

And automated app actions seem to have a lot of potential, assuming the integrations with Uber, DoorDash and other apps works as promised. The reasons to get the S26 Ultra right now and upgrade your phone are features like Privacy Display. At a time phone makers are being criticized for iterative updates, this is a truly innovative feature that solves a problem and it is completely customizable. I’m also very impressed with the Horizon Lock feature when shooting video (I challenge you to get shaky footage) and the improved low-light photos and videos.

Last year’s Galaxy S25 Ultra felt like a very minor update, especially in terms of hardware, and the direction Samsung was going was clearly AI-driven. I drove to the launch event fearing more of the same. I think it’s fair to say that Samsung has a conservative approach to phone design, except when it comes to artificial intelligence.

There's a strange feeling I often get when testing phones. After I got everything updated and set up the way I like, I noticed it even more with the S26 Ultra. The issue is that despite using a brand new device with shiny hardware, better performance and a more refined design, I'm still largely doing the same things and using the same apps as I was before (like Google Maps, Gmail and whatever my go-to mobile games are at the moment). This means my daily flow is basically unchanged from device to device. However, if you're paying attention, you'll notice things like higher framerates while gaming, sharper and more well-exposed photos at night and helpful suggestions like when the phone surfaces relevant photos in the middle of a text conversation.

The feature works at 'the pixel level', according to Samsung, and it is the result of five years of software engineering and tests. It's an appealing capability for the Samsung S26, but we expect it won't be long before other vendors have alternatives.

Initially, I felt as though the Galaxy S26 Ultra was another iterative upgrade, and in a lot of respects, it is on paper. Despite this, Samsung has pushed through a lot of great changes and upgrades that could prove to be genuinely useful — and are likely to be promptly copied by some of the competition. The Privacy Screen is the standout security feature on the S26 Ultra. Likewise, the camera's horizontal lock is not a wholly original idea, but it is a novel idea for a smartphone that could prove very useful. The rest of the phone's hardware looks solid, too. We've got a potentially major performance boost from the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy, and the larger camera aperture should offer major improvements to photo quality — especially in low-light conditions.

Samsung says this is because the S25 Ultra isn’t powerful enough to run them. But while that’s a bummer, Samsung did something else surprising with the Galaxy S26 series. The Galaxy S26 and the Galaxy S26 Ultra 256GB are more affordable than their predecessors. (However, Samsung also isn’t offering a 128GB S26 variant this year.) In a one-on-one interview with Raj Doshi, Head of Mobile at Samsung Canada, he shared that Samsung made these handsets more affordable because of their popularity. However, the company also made the other storage/RAM configurations more pricey, as the company is being affected by the increase in RAM prices worldwide. While I don’t think Samsung took any big risks with the S26 Ultra, it seems like it’ll be just a solid experience, especially if the AI is everything it’s cracked up to be. While I love gimmicky hardware, I like my software to just work well and make my life easier, and it looks like Samsung is aiming for that experience.

That's fine, and while we'd have loved a larger battery inside, the new phone shapes up to be a good upgrade target for users of the Galaxy S22 Ultra and older devices, which are nearing the end of their shelf life. The same applies to the Pixel 10 Pro XL, which is a continuation rather than an evolution over the Pixel 9 Pro XL. Google doesn't like making stark moves, so the gap between the Pixel 9 Pro XL and the Pixel 10 Pro XL is pretty much what we should brace for in the coming years. Either way, both will be among the best top Android flagships you'd be able to get in the US in early 2026, with the Pixel having the benefit of already being on the shelves.

Samsung is once again playing things extremely safe with its flagships. No new product names and categories, no major changes, no big shakeups in the performance or design areas, and no interesting upgrades. What we get is a very familiar pair of devices that retain their major selling points and key differentiators but start to look a bit boring when superimposed on the current Android market. The Galaxy S26 Ultra is the phone that maximalists and power users will inevitably pick, as it will most certainly end up being the most powerful Android phone available in the US for the foreseeable future. With the best camera and most features and functionalities on board, it will be the expensive but no-compromise phone to get in early 2026. Unfortunately, all of that is soured by the formulaic and boring release. At the same time, the Galaxy S26 Plus continues being that weirdly positioned device that feels a bit off. It's a flagship, but not quite, and it's compact, but not as much as the Galaxy S26. Once you consider buying the Galaxy S26 Plus, it's very easy to get upsold to the Galaxy S26 Ultra, which could be the only reason for its existence.
