Honor Magic8 Pro è un'ammiraglia di fascia alta della serie Magic8 costruita intorno allo Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, 12 GB di RAM e 512 GB di memoria UFS. Abbina un display LTPO OLED da 6,71 pollici a 120 Hz con oscuramento PWM ad alta frequenza e ampio supporto del formato HDR. Il suo sistema di fotocamere è incentrato su un sensore principale da 50MP, un teleobiettivo stabilizzato da 200MP con zoom ottico 3,7x e un ultrawide/macro da 50MP, con recensioni che evidenziano risultati particolarmente brillanti in condizioni di scarsa illuminazione e di teleobiettivo. Con il Magic8 Pro, Honor lancia il suo nuovo smartphone di fascia alta. È leggermente più compatto, ma riesce comunque a vantare una batteria significativamente più grande, un SoC top di gamma e una potente configurazione della fotocamera. Si tratta di un pacchetto complessivo eccellente, ma i nostri test hanno rivelato anche alcuni inconvenienti.

OPPO FIND X9 Pro o Honor Magic 8 Pro: il confronto fra top di gamma completissimi

Entrambi supportano chiaramente l'eSIM e l'uscita video tramite Type-C, seppur soltanto l'Honor Magic 8 Pro, ad oggi, offra una vera interfaccia desktop per trasformare lo smartphone in una sorta di MiniPC una volta collegato a un monitor esterno. Entrambi vantano la certificazione IP69, ma Honor monta un vetro proprietario a protezione del display, più resistente rispetto a quello di OPPO. Entrambi teoricamente supportano la connessione satellitare, ma Honor solo in Cina e OPPO unicamente nel taglio 1 TB/16 GB (che da noi non esiste). Per quanto riguarda i prezzi, sono molto volatili, soprattutto quelli di OPPO Find X9 Pro, che è in commercio da svariati mesi.

La stabilizzazione certificata CIPA e il teleobiettivo da 200 MP regalano alcune delle migliori foto notturne che abbiamo mai scattato con uno smartphone, mentre la risoluzione aumentata offre ancora più dettagli agli scatti con teleobiettivo e macro, rappresentando un netto miglioramento rispetto al modello precedente. La durata della batteria è eccellente, la ricarica è rapida, lo schermo è splendido e, grazie al processore Snapdragon di nuova generazione, le prestazioni quotidiane sono impeccabili. MagicOS 10 propone nuove logiche ed esperienze e la IA è davvero utile. Honor ha fatto centro, ancora una volta.

In conclusione, non sono un grande fan di questi complessi sistemi di scontistica, anche perché si rischia di ridimensionare il valore percepito di un prodotto che, alla fine, ci costa 999 euro (non certo spiccioli). Probabilmente sarebbe meglio optare per una super offerta iniziale, magari limitata a pochi pezzi o al periodo di lancio, che renda il prodotto allettante senza però svalutarlo tramite un labirinto di bundle, punti, coupon e procedure macchinose. Tuttavia, rispetto ai due modelli precedenti, qui mi sento di dire che il prezzo è più che giustificato.

Il salto più evidente rispetto al passato è nel software: MagicOS 10 è più moderno, più pulito e più razionale, però mantiene tutte quelle personalizzazioni che rendono il sistema “HONOR”, dai temi alle scorciatoie. Anche la parte AI è integrata meglio e ha un senso pratico, quindi non resta una lista di funzioni da provare una volta e poi dimenticare.

Questo Magic8 Pro è tutta solidità e batteria, il vero punto di forza, con il contorno di un bel display, prestazioni elevatissime, fotocamere fanno un buon lavoro nella maggior parte delle situazioni e un supporto esteso (anche troppo, in termini di reale utilità) all'AI. Non è una rivoluzione e non vuole, probabilmente, esserlo ma vuole offrire un'alternativa sensata nella fascia altissima. A penalizzarlo un po' forse è il prezzo, perché con un listino di 1.299 euro Honor è, da una parte, perfettamente allineata ai concorrenti (anzi si colloca persino un po' più in basso), ma dall'altra chiede comunque un atto di fiducia a chi fosse interessato.

Honor Magic 8 Pro review: A proper flagship

The Honor Magic 8 Pro is a proper flagship, worthy to go against top dogs from Apple, Samsung, and Google. The phone sports all the right ingredients and ticks all the right boxes to deliver a true flagship experience. From the super bright AMOLED display to the fast chipset and the powerful camera system, the Honor Magic 8 Pro delivers. Some might find the interface a little derivative and the new AI button not the most original thing out there, but the implementation is great, and all the AI features are actually quite useful. The Magic 8 Pro is not a cheap phone, and it can be hard to get in specific regions of the world, but if you're willing to take a chance and try something different than your popular flagships from the big three, you'll be pleasantly surprised.

In my humble opinion, the Magic8 Pro has a better camera system than the best iPhone. It’s also objectively on level-pegging terms when it comes to performance, and the battery is far more convenient thanks to that fast charging. It can also slot fairly seamlessly into your Apple ecosystem, and even plays nicely with iPhones. The problem? It’s the Magic8 Lite. It’s cheaper, has an even bigger battery, and some wild robustness claims (I fired a staple directly into its display during the press briefing, and there wasn’t a mark on it afterwards). It’ll be enough for most people and is probably the only Achilles heel for the Magic8 Pro.

One thing that I love (again) about this phone is the face unlock. It is unlike anything I have previously used. HONOR says in its documentation that it uses 3D Face Recognition, and it really shows. When I pick the phone up, it immediately unlocks, so I only have to swipe from the lock screen. I literally cannot fault it. It seems like it does not require you to point your face to the screen at all for it to recognize you and unlock; it is just super fast. The same can be said of the fingerprint sensor; it is quick. Time will tell if MagicOS 10 slows to a crawl. I think OS slowdowns affect all handsets;

Qualcomm Adreno 840: Unità grafica integrata nel SoC Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 per smartphone con tre fette a 1,2 GHz ciascuna. Secondo Qualcomm, è più veloce del 23% rispetto alla generazione precedente (Adreno 830).
Ridurre la distanza delle Schede Grafiche per gli utenti che vogliono utilizzare il videogiochi. I nuovi giochi dovrebbero funzionare su queste schede, ma con riduzione dei dettagli e risoluzione mediocre.
