Conclusione - Test del Core Ultra 200S Plus: Prestazioni elevate, alta efficienza e un interessante rapporto prezzo-prestazioni

Nella nostra recensione, il Core Ultra 7 270K Plus e il Core Ultra 5 250K Plus di Intel fanno un'impressione molto convincente nel complesso. Entrambi i processori traggono vantaggio dall'architettura Arrow Lake rivista, dalle frequenze di clock più elevate e dall'aumento del numero di core di efficienza, particolarmente evidente nelle applicazioni multi-thread. Le CPU offrono ottime prestazioni, soprattutto nel rendering e nei carichi di lavoro produttivi, e sono in grado di reggere il confronto con l'attuale concorrenza.

Nei giochi, il quadro è più eterogeneo: Sebbene le prestazioni siano complessivamente di alto livello, non tutti i titoli beneficiano allo stesso modo dei miglioramenti architettonici. Tuttavia, l'aumento delle frequenze di clock e la connessione ottimizzata della memoria assicurano risultati da solidi a eccellenti, soprattutto in scenari limitati dalla GPU.

Un altro aspetto positivo è l'efficienza. Nonostante le riserve di potenza elevate, il consumo energetico rimane controllabile, il che mantiene moderati i requisiti di raffreddamento e consente anche l'utilizzo in sistemi potenti ma silenziosi. Il supporto per la memoria veloce DDR5 e le nuove tecnologie come il Binary Optimization Tool completano il pacchetto complessivo.

Nel complesso, la serie Core Ultra 200S Plus offre un pacchetto complessivo di successo, con prestazioni, efficienza e una piattaforma moderna. Il Core Ultra 7 270K Plus, in particolare, è consigliato agli utenti esigenti e parte da 299 dollari, mentre il Core Ultra 5 250K Plus è un'opzione interessante nella fascia alta del mainstream, a partire da 199 dollari.

Con Intel Core Ultra 7 270K Plus e Core Ultra 5 250K Plus, Intel continua la sua attuale generazione di desktop e utilizza ancora il socket LGA-1851. Sebbene la piattaforma rimanga la stessa, i nuovi modelli apportano alcuni progressi tecnici rispetto alle generazioni precedenti.

Come in precedenza, anche in questo caso vengono utilizzate architetture ibride, che combinano core potenti e performanti (core P) con core efficienti (core E). Questo concetto è stato ulteriormente perfezionato per ottenere un migliore equilibrio tra prestazioni ed efficienza energetica. Le nuove CPU dovrebbero funzionare in modo più efficiente, soprattutto nell'uso quotidiano e per i compiti multi-thread, migliorando al contempo le prestazioni sia single-core che multi-core nelle applicazioni più impegnative.

Un punto importante è il supporto della memoria DDR5, che ora consente velocità di clock significativamente più elevate, fino a 7.200 MT/s e oltre. Gli utenti beneficiano di larghezze di banda più elevate, ma devono anche assicurarsi di avere una memoria compatibile per accedere a tutte le prestazioni. A questo proposito, si consiglia di dare un'occhiata agli elenchi QVL dei rispettivi produttori di schede madri.

Rispetto ai precedenti modelli di punta, Core Ultra 9 285K e Core Ultra 7 265K, Intel ha modificato principalmente la configurazione dei core e le velocità di clock nelle nuove varianti. Il numero di core di efficienza è stato aumentato e la frequenza die-to-die all'interno dei core della CPU è stata aumentata fino a 900 MHz, il che migliora le latenze e viene ricompensato con prestazioni complessivamente più elevate. Questo avvantaggia soprattutto le applicazioni altamente parallelizzate, come il rendering video, i carichi di lavoro 3D, lo streaming o la compilazione di software. Allo stesso tempo, aumentano anche le prestazioni single-core, con un effetto positivo sugli attuali motori di gioco.

Come ulteriore innovazione, Intel sta introducendo la tecnologia Intel Binary Optimization, un processo di Intel con il quale i programmi già compilati possono essere successivamente ottimizzati. Invece di modificare il codice sorgente, il programma finito viene analizzato e migliorato direttamente in formato binario. In sostanza, questa tecnologia funziona in modo tale che il programma viene prima analizzato durante l'esecuzione per scoprire quali parti vengono utilizzate con particolare frequenza. Il codice macchina viene poi ristrutturato in modo specifico. Ad esempio, le funzioni più utilizzate vengono collocate più vicine nella memoria, in modo che il processore possa accedervi più rapidamente.

Il vantaggio di questo metodo è che le prestazioni di un programma possono essere aumentate senza doverlo ricompilare. Questo è particolarmente utile per le applicazioni di grandi dimensioni o quando il codice sorgente non è disponibile. Le ottimizzazioni mirano principalmente a migliorare l'uso della cache della CPU e a sfruttare meglio i processi interni del processore. Come già detto all'inizio, tutti i processori Arrow Lake S sono ancora basati sul noto socket, ma sono accompagnati da un nuovo chipset. La scheda TUF Gaming Z890-PLUS Wi-Fi di Asus era a nostra disposizione per questo test. La scheda madre utilizza il chipset Z890.

Il design della TUF Gaming Z890-PLUS Wi-Fi è chiaramente basato sul familiare look TUF. Il layout prevalentemente nero è interrotto da sottili dettagli argentati. Asus ha rinunciato all'illuminazione accattivante sulla parte anteriore, ma gli elementi RGB sono ancora presenti: I LED integrati sul retro forniscono illuminazione anche quando il sistema è spento - possono essere disattivati nel BIOS, se necessario. Da un punto di vista tecnico, la scheda madre supporta la RAM DDR5 veloce con velocità di clock fino a 9.066 MT/s. È possibile arrivare a 256 GB quando i quattro slot DIMM sono completamente popolati, per cui occorre prestare attenzione ai moduli compatibili. A questo proposito, è utile dare un'occhiata all'elenco QVL del produttore.

Anche la varietà di connessioni è ampia. Oltre a diverse porte USB, è presente anche una porta Thunderbolt 4. Per la connessione di rete sono disponibili sia la LAN 2.5G che il moderno Wi-Fi 7. Diversi dissipatori di calore distribuiti sull'intera scheda assicurano un'efficace dissipazione del calore e ne caratterizzano anche l'aspetto. Il radiatore SSD rimovibile senza attrezzi sopra lo slot PCIe è una caratteristica pratica. Anche la scheda grafica può essere facilmente sbloccata e rimossa grazie al meccanismo di rilascio Q. Tuttavia, questa comoda soluzione non è implementata in modo coerente, in quanto il dissipatore inferiore è ancora avvitato.

Il prezzo di TUF Gaming Z890-PLUS Wi-Fi è attualmente di circa 230 dollari, il che lo colloca in una buona fascia di prezzo-prestazioni.

Condizioni del test

Tutti i benchmark con il Core Ultra 7 270K Plus e il Core Ultra 5 250K Plus sono stati eseguiti con il profilo energetico "Prestazioni elevate". Nel BIOS sono state utilizzate le impostazioni predefinite di Intel, in modo che entrambi i processori lavorassero all'interno delle specifiche fornite dal produttore. Per il raffreddamento, utilizziamo un collaudato sistema di raffreddamento ad acqua ad anello personalizzato, già utilizzato in precedenti test sulle CPU. Utilizziamo anche il kit di RAM fornito con entrambi i processori (G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB DDR5-7200).

Parametri di riferimento del processore

Diamo ora un'occhiata alle prestazioni del benchmark della CPU dei nuovi modelli Core Ultra 7 270K Plus e Core Ultra 5 250K Plus. Diventa subito chiaro che Intel trae il massimo vantaggio dal numero di core nativi della CPU nella serie 200S Plus. Grazie all'aumento del numero di core con core di efficienza aggiuntivi e velocità di clock più elevate, i nuovi processori si distinguono chiaramente dai loro diretti predecessori e offrono guadagni notevoli, soprattutto nelle applicazioni multithread.

In termini di prestazioni, le nuove CPU si collocano nel segmento superiore degli attuali processori desktop e competono alla pari sia con i precedenti modelli di fascia alta, come l'Intel Core Ultra 9 285K, sia con le attuali soluzioni AMD. Mentre il Core Ultra 5 250K Plus è particolarmente impressionante nel segmento mainstream superiore, il Core Ultra 7 270K Plus si posiziona chiaramente come un'opzione potente per i carichi di lavoro più impegnativi.

Benchmark sintetici e prestazioni delle applicazioni

Diamo ora un'occhiata alle prestazioni del benchmark della CPU dei nuovi modelli Core Ultra 7 270K Plus e Core Ultra 5 250K Plus. Diventa subito chiaro che Intel si sta concentrando principalmente su una maggiore efficienza e su prestazioni parallele più elevate con la serie 200S Plus. Grazie all'aumento del numero di core con core di efficienza aggiuntivi e all'incremento delle velocità di clock, i nuovi processori si distinguono chiaramente dai loro diretti predecessori e offrono guadagni notevoli, in particolare nelle applicazioni multi-thread.

I nuovi modelli Core Ultra 7 270K Plus e Core Ultra 5 250K Plus dimostrano che i guadagni di prestazioni misurati nei benchmark delle CPU non possono essere trasferiti completamente alle prestazioni di gioco. Tuttavia, nel confronto diretto con i vecchi processori Arrow Lake, i modelli di aggiornamento possono brillare costantemente con prestazioni migliori. Le prestazioni di gioco relativamente scarse dei processori Arrow Lake sono migliorate un po', ma non si avvicinano ancora a un Intel Core i9 14900K nel nostro confronto. AMD rimane il punto di riferimento quando si tratta di prestazioni di gioco.

Fabbisogno energetico

Il Core Ultra 7 270K Plus e il Core Ultra 5 250K Plus sono ad un livello equilibrato in termini di consumo energetico. Nonostante l'aumento delle prestazioni, il consumo energetico rimane allo stesso livello dei modelli precedenti, con un'efficienza significativamente migliore grazie all'aumento delle prestazioni. Sono possibili picchi di carico a breve termine, ma rientrano nell'intervallo previsto. Nel complesso, il consumo energetico rimane abbastanza moderato da poter essere facilmente gestito con soluzioni di raffreddamento standard, senza dover ricorrere a concetti di raffreddamento estremi. Le CPU sono anche poco appariscenti e stabili in termini di temperature, anche sotto carico continuo.
