Recensione del computer portatile Dell G5 15 5500. Unità di test getilmente fornita da Dell India.

Il Dell G5 15 5500 è abbastanza buono senza offrire alcuna enfasi RGB o essere troppo "gamery", rendendolo così anche un compagno di lavoro decente. La qualità costruttiva complessiva è ottima, con pochissimi cedimendi alle pressioni, se non leggermente nelle solite aree, come il piano della tastiera e il display. Le opzioni di connettività sono decenti, anche se ci sarebbe piaciuto vedere una porta Thunderbolt 3 e le opzioni di alimentazione USB.

La RAM, l'SSD/HDD e la scheda WLAN sono aggiornabili dall'utente, anche se ci sconcerta il fatto che Dell preferisca utilizzare l'inusuale slot M.2 2230 per gli SSD NVMe, soprattutto quando non è disponibile l'espansione M.2 2280.

Il display è il tallone d'Achille del nostro modello. Speriamo che questo sia limitato solo alla nostra unità e non sia in realtà una "caratteristica" diffusa. Anche se la maggior parte dei portatili gaming in questo prezzo sacrifica la gamma di colori e la precisione a favore delle alte velocità di aggiornamento, per un portatile 2020, la copertura sRGB misurata lascia ancora molto a desiderare.

Il Dell G5 15 5500 fa del suo meglio per attrarre il giocatore di fascia media con prestazioni di sistema decenti. Tuttavia, il suo display sotto la media limita la sua applicazione per molti altri flussi di lavoro, nonostante l'hardware sportivo abbastanza capace.

A parte i problemi del display, il Dell G5 15 5500 si comporta come previsto sul lato CPU e GPU. Chi gioca con impostazioni medio-alte a 1080p troverà le prestazioni adeguate per la maggior parte dei titoli AAA. Mentre l'autonomia in idle è buona, non possiamo dire altrettanto quando è sotto sforzo.

Come detto prima, dato che non è stato possibile effettuare tutte le misurazioni, per il momento non assegnamo una valutazione. Il Dell G5 15 5500 si comporta in modo ammirevole per la configurazione data, ma un display migliore, più RAM e una batteria più grande sono alcune delle cose su cui Dell deve concentrarsi per ottenere una raccomandazione entusiasta considerando il prezzo richiesto.
